Maybe it is so different in that it is not the same car, but I wanted to post this because the winner of the design gets $2,500 and that car in a new video game.

If I am wrong in posting this, let me know, I am not trying to stir the pot, just inform of possible thievery of creative minds for ill gotten gains.

Pic of fan submitted car for vote:

    Just a heads up.

  2. what a shame.

It's typical of people/corporations these days...no creativity to come up with their own stuff...I had to threaten to sue the AMT Corporation of Dyersville, Iowa, a few years ago cuz they "stole" my graphic design stripe off one of my '57 Chevies...(I designed in a certain "twist" to it and they copied it exactly)...I didn't get any money out of it but they learned of my distaste for corporate stealing and I exacted my revenge for their transgression...it cost them plenty for their high-powered New York lawyers to have to talk to my lawyer and back and forth letters.

With all due respect - that isn't Clark's car anymore. Maybe the new owner gave permission for the use?

Which is fine and why I added my disclaimer above if I was in the wrong.

Let me know if you want me to delete my post.

  7. Cool. I like it. It'll probably get some kids into the hot rod scene. Or at least give them a little respect for it. Whatever it takes.. we don't want to all die off and hot rods die off with us because kids never got into it.

I think people need to take this kinda **** less as an insult and more as a compliment. Nothing pisses me off more than a ****cheese that thinks he knows it all or has done it all in the cl***ic car world and can't appreciate anyone else's taste or effort because he has his head too far up his ***. Guess what ****er, news flash, other people with their own individuality think it's cool too and not everyone can be a legend.

Know what I've learned from the legends? They don't go around making fun of everyone else. That alone makes them more of a man.

I think it's cool as hell when anyone appreciates the scene, even if it's only from behind a TV screen or magazine.

It's not a scene, it's a way of life. Watching Boyd order parts does not make you a rodder. Searching for the right parts to complete you ride in a junkyard is how you learn. Copyright infringement is a big deal. Maybe the new owner gave consent, but video game designers should be a little more creative. .02

Maybe the game designer is a car guy, really admires the car and wanted to immortalize it in the game. Too many people ***** about things without really knowing the entire story. A discussion is one thing, *****ing is another.

Only if it is stated to be and accepted as legaly being copywrited. And I'm quite sure you can't copyright an object. You can copywrite images or text, but not cars.

There maybe some issues with idea theft involved here, but we really don't know that because we don't know the whole story.

I hope that the words ****cheese and ****er were not aimed at me. I was informing the original party where the car originated from of possible infringement of a design. I now know that Clark has sold it and it is possible that consent has been given to be used as a candidate for a car in an Atari video game.

There is a disclaimer on the bottom of the Hamb regarding teeth getting kicked in if you steal stuff from this site. Clark's car is very much part of the Hamb as it is his baby, since he blessed us with the birth and engineering to final build on this board, as well as being incorporated in the Hamb's design bars.

Ignore my post if I am in the wrong. No need to fly off the handle using ad hominen's and implied philosophical musings about my intent. I take any sort of thievery serious and was doing civic duty in bringing the info to light for those who may not know about it.

  12. No not at you at all. Nor Studedude for getting pissed, I would have also. Actually I will admit my rant is slightly off topic from this thread, just all the other threads adding up and ******* me off where people complain too much about everything.

  13. The car isn't in any game yet. It's an example from a contest to design a car for the next "Test Drive" game. The photo**** job done to Clark's car (and it looks like Spike's pics) was just what was submitted by that McLaughlin guy.

As of this post there are 10+ hours left...

So yeah, Clark's kinda getting ripped off, but as of right now there is no commercial product using his (former) car.

I think we can all agree ***hat McLaughlin doesn't deserve $2500 for OBVIOUSLY someone else's work. Send an informative letter to atari.

I just spoke with my uncle.Dual 4s on the HAMB. He now owns the coupe. He did not give permission to use the car or it's likeness for any video game. This is wierd.

  18. When you get your car photographed for a magazine article, you sign off that the pics may be used for adverti*****ts and such... also, when you go to a car show, (I believe like a Goodguys show) you also waive that right.

Nobody *****ES about it when the likeness of their car is used in a BEER comercial... but LORD WATCH OUT if someone uses a likeness of your car in a "**** Lube" ad! Hahahahahahaha!!

"Buy 'Slip it IN!' (TM) **** Lube because Slip it in is FAST! Just like this Hot Rod! Show 'em boys! Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

    Hahahahahah!!!!!

Clark, or the new owner do not own the likeness of their car if they have gone to a car show or had it photographed for a magazine and they signed that little waiver... plain and simple. Plus, if Clark owned it, signed the waiver, and then a new owner buys it (like your uncle), he can't say doodlie about it.

The guy who took the pics of the car has rights to the pics.

    Sam.

The photographs are mine. Can anyone please PM me the info on who submitted them? Copyright infringement IS a big deal and I take it seriously, so does TRK.

I'm pretty sure that the Traditional Rod & Kulture Mag guys will want to talk to that kid. Those pics belong to them and are from that cars feature in Issue #6. So those pics belong to them. That is theft!

    Spike, ya out there???????

EDIT: DAMN I'm slow tonight Spike had already replied, dizzang, Sick'em!

Spike, I found the images on the original link I supplied. If you read the article, it will take you to the website where they are having the poll for choosing the car. I imagine if you contact them directly through that site, you should be able to get the ball rolling.

I'm flattered with all the attention. The car does belong to Dual4s now and has for a while. Not sure what the game is about but he should be the one submitting the car. He's done some cool stuff with the car and it's in good hands. As a matter of fact he was at a show with it tonight!

Spike should be getting the credit for the photos!!

On a lighter side he's a pretty good photo shopper. Not that I agree with what he's done to the car:eek: Interior shot is OK and the grill isn't too bad. Now the exhaust made me queezey!

How cool would it be if those video game people made a photoshop type game where you could build a car in it!

I'm a long ways off, but I have plans for developing a Hot Rod game. My first thought was to HAMB resources for the cars, parts, and music (with all the appropriate permissions obviously!)

But like I said, a looong ways off from now.
