Having a tough time. I drilled alignment holes in the hinges before i removed the doors a couple years ago. After bolting everything together, the Doors are not lining up and will hit the fenders if i try to close the doors. Was wondering if i should have installed the doors before the fenders were installed. Hate to have to remove a load of bolts to remove the sheet metal. What have u guys done ..thanks
Probably need to loosen the bottom and middle fasteners on the fenders, remove the springs and nuts that hold the front radiator support so you can jack up the front clip a little. Is it rubbing at the bottom fender/door ? Really should have the doors on first to align fenders to. Just my opinion but that front rubber pad has to be just the right thickness to achieve proper gaps. I am presuming a 54 is ***embled like my 56.
If the doors are mounted the same as when you took them off, your problem arises in the front sheet metal. Loosen it up, fit the doors and then the front sheet metal.
What he said^^^! Mount the doors first and get your alignment gap right. Then move forward to the front fenders.
Yep, that was what i was thinking. Loosen it all up. Do the doors first and then re-align the fenders.. The Core support pad was in good condition when i put it in, but i dont know if it is as thick as a new one
Well....I bit the bullet and took one side off. We'll see how the doors fit in the next couple of days. Should be a whole lot easier
