Hard one to chop, harder to improve by chopping. The two-tone paint is equally eye-catching. Congrats on a super job!
I own two 58 Edsels and a stock original 55 Merc Montclair two door hardtop. The 55 and 56 Montclairs are factory swoopy, but I have to say this one looks cool. Subtle as hell, compliments the car's styling Well done !!
I drove a 56 Merc Montclair 2 dr hardtop as my HS car back in the 70's. I've never seen one chopped that I liked ,until now. Well done!! Those look like the stock tail lights that have been remounted and angled 19Fordy. A nice custom touch. Torchie
The tailights are installed .... i cut them and layed them foward 3&1/2” Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
A while ago I saw a pic of a group of cars that included a chopped and sectioned 56 Merc. Can anybody provide a pic or tell us anything about this car. ?
Here's one from Rikster's Archives... https://public.fotki.com/Rikster/11...rs/56_mercury_custom_cars/56_mercury_customs/
I like them angled like that. I was looking at this yesterday trying to figure out how you had extended the quarters I'm glad you explained how you did it.
I owned it for several years.it was my daily driver clocking roughly 100 miles daily. Originally built by kelsey Martin of mass. 2" chop, 4" section and 5" stretch in the rear quarters to accommodate the 55 merc wagon taillights.
Were you running around the Temecula/Murrieta Ca area? I swear I saw the black and white chopped/sectioned merc around the fathers day car show in Murrieta one year.
That is really nice, car looks like a progression to a lower/wider/longer car like might have been built by Mercury in 1960 or so. Very nice and subtle. Very well done!
