Bob “Bones” Balogh. At first glance I thought this was John Mazmanian’s Corvette, but the hood didn’t look right. In fact it’s the J&J Muffler car. Bones had quite a career driving for many notable racers. Starting in his own ‘49 Chevy Gas class car he later drove for J&J (in a variety of cars), the Mallicoat Brothers, Big John, the Safeway Sandblasting Ardun powered Willys, the Bones, Dubach & Pisano Willys and the Stone, Woods & Bones ‘68 Mustang gasser. I probably missed a few too. I got to meet him at Byron in 2017, he was there with Isky. They make quite the pair, telling stories about the old days and greeting fans.
