So my sister in law has Grandma's old 64 Falcon. It's been sitting for several years, but it appears to just need some TLC. She is offering to sell it to me, but it's not exactly a car that I have lusted after. Plus the wife wants nothing to do with it! But, I'm sure the price is right, and it might be fun for a while, especially if I could turn it into something cool.

I'm wondering if anyone has ideas on how I could trick it out. Make Grandma's car cool. My thoughts were to lower it, drop a v-8 in it (pretty sure it's a 6) and find some nice rims for starters.

Seems like they did one on Over Haulin a while back. I'll have to see if I can dig that up.

Anyway, if anybody has ideas or pics of nicely done Falcons - please share them!

    Quick question:

2 door or 4 door?. 2 door cars even with the post can easily be made to look cool but 4 doors are a challenge to get past being "Grandma's old Falcon".
No need to go V8 if you want cool and fast, to paraphrase: 350/350 and 302/C4 has been done to death. Try INLINE you'll see it's fine.
Here's a few "little Falcon engines":

It's a 2 door, and I don't have anything againt in-line. Got a flat 6 in my jalopy. We'll see if there's anything left in the engine it's got first.

I think I found the wrong version earlier. It's more like the one Foose re-did on Over-Haulin.

Here's a couple more Photoshops. I took the Foose version, lowered it, and played with the color. Oh, and tried one with the roof chopped off.

Turns out it's not the Sprint or the Futura. It's the standard 2 door, which I guess looks more like the Sprint. I'm digging that last illustration!

I vote g***er...a 385 series big block would look WILD in a little ford like that. Especially if you could dig up a used/abused sheetmetal intake or something too set it off.

Here is a photo of my favorite '64 Falcon of all time. It was known as the Georgia Peach and driven by Phil Bonner, who is the coolest drag racer of all time in my opinion. It appears this car has gone to drag racing heaven but a exact replica is being built with Phil's blessings. The AFX vibe might be a direction you may want to go. If so, go with a FE bigblock. 390's look just like 427s and are fairly cheap and plentiful. They can also be made to run like hell....

I'm with you on that. Straight axle, with a nosebleed stance, maybe some radiused rear wheel wells, and an old Thunderbolt style teardrop hood. Add some cast Torque Thrust D's and you've got it nailed.

A B/FX version would be easier ( small block ) No cutting of shock towers etc...

Crites restoration has headers, motor mounts, and a instalation kit to put a FE right in there!!! They also sell all of the fibergl*** parts for a Falcon.
