I know the fenders are different, but are the cabs different too. Trying to find a cab local for a project. Mainly interested in the mounts and how a fleet side bed will line up. The cabs and hood look damn near identical to me. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
The 5000 series trucks (cabovers) are quite different. The rest....the cab is mostly the same, the fenders, grill, etc are different if it's one of the bigger ones, 4000 or larger. You should be able to tell by looking at pics of both, and comparing.
So it looks like two cabs in 59; “conventional cab” and “low cab forward” The spartan I’m looking at definitely has the conventional cab. I’m going to go take some measurements. I wonder what it would look like with the fleet side bed. I’ve got another cab with the 31/32 fenders if it doesn’t look right. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
The cab is mostly the same between the small and large trucks, as long as it's not an LCF cab. What frame are you planning to use?
Right now I was planning on using my 59 short frame; but I’ve been looking at No Limit Engineering retro 8 ch***is as well. In the end I’ll probably keep my rails and use the no limit front and 4 link Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Thumbing through the ***embly manual, it looks like the difference in how the cab mounts on the 40-60 series trucks is all in how the frame brackets are made. The cabs themselves are the same as the 30 series. As far as how the bed will work out...just like on any other 59 fleetside. Plan on using the small truck front fenders, etc, and it should be fine. There will probably be a few different holes in the cab floor/firewall that you'll have to fill, for big truck stuff.
