Here's another one of my off the wall concepts. I've owned two 39 Chevy 5 window coupes in my day. One was a gasser with a Dodge Hemi and the other was stock. I've always thought the body style of the 39 was pretty nice but just a little chunky. If I ever get a third one I think I would like to smooth things out a bit something like this.

    Hello,

In looking through all of my old Drag News copies, I came across this early version of the Burkhardt Roadster we saw at Lions Dragstrip and others, in those early days. Of course, it was one of the multiple, fast roadsters sponsored by Reath Automotive. Their sponsorships were like gold and the faster anyone recorded, the sponsorship level was highlighted by larger painted letters on the side of the race car.

This is George Burkhart in the '29 roadster, far side, racing Harold Nicholson, very early '50s.

This roadster was impressive as was any roadster or race car sponsored by Reath Automotive. The little changes over the early years just happened to make the roadster go faster. Subtle changes, but those that made it a record breaker along the way.

Reath Automotive was so strong in the drag racing circles that everyone wanted to be sponsored by them. (at least get some engine work or parts from them.) The work on various motor parts and****embly was far superior to other local shops. Quality meant winning.

“Burkhart, Brammer, & Burns, Potvin-blown Desoto, Mike Burns, who worked the counter at Weiand, drove, big George Burkhart and Everett "Hippo" Brammer owned the car...they retired it after the lighter roadsters made it obsolete, and after the Sadd, Teage, and Bentley roadster was badly damaged in a return road accident at Bonneville, the Burkhard, Brammer, and Burns roadster gave up its body as a replacement...Hippo was a Blair's regular, and could entertain for hours with racing stories...died a few years ago…” @296ardun

“Burkhart, Brammer, and Burns '29 roadster, Rudy Perez photo, at Half Moon Bay. Mike Burns in the seat, "Big George" Burkhart (6'4", over 300 lbs.) standing behind the roadster, and Everett "Hippo" Brammer bending by the engine. The blown fuel Desoto had quite the exhaust note.” @296ardun

From Rockerhead, Don Montgomery: “Some great performances by the roadsters of the Brissette Bros. and Burkhart-Brammer & Burns and the coupe of Gene Mooneyham, plus others, were such crowd pleasers that the fuel roadsters and coupes were reborn in the early 1960s.”

  13. That Steve Stanford Olds is boss... and 'Big George' Burkhart...wow.. nickname 'Tiny'?

Got another bit of t-shirt art this week from B-Scott for my older boys pickup project. Now, I just need to order a bunch of shirts so both boys can sell them to help fund the actual projects. ;)

Just some encore items this week though I'm closing in on finishing a cool commission. I'll include a snapshot from it...
