It's wierd to see Bump's car when I know he is currently in Texas He lent his chopped shoebox to his nephew for the end of his senior year and the summer. It looks like they are having fun with it, but I want to see it come home soon.
Glenn, Thanks for the pics. And yes the meet n great was nice. Neat to see some people that you post with and even may have sold some stuff too. Bill
Yes the car was built locally here in Md. What he started with was pretty rough by the standards of that time. Of course roughness is a sliding scale. S**** metal back then is a "builder" today.
For all of you that met my Brother at the meet & greet on Saturday, he was rewarded for his efforts by Street Rodder Mag. Skips***ch did the interior, but the rest of the project was primarily his own sweat and blood, it's definitely a driver and I'm proud as hell that he's not only a great Brother, but a down to earth H.A.M.B.er like the rest of us!
Glenn, thanks for posting the pics of the show and the gathering of HAMBers who showed up to see what kind of mayhem would ensue because there were no Denise cookies to be had. Thankfully, subs***ute cookies were provided (sorry, can't remember the chef's name). Hope everybody had a safe trip home. We did, driving in some of trhe best weather we have ever had coming home from Columbus. Actually, the whole show weekend provided the best weather. And, we are thank ful for that. John
It was GREAT to see so many HAMB folks in attendance. There mucst have been 30 or more folks coming and going at the Meet and Greet over a two hour period. Roadstar and I got there alittle early and were having such a wonderful time talking with everyone and shooting photos that before we knew it we had been there for TWO hours! I loved it though. Chatting with folks is certainly a great way to get to know everyone alittle better. I had a great time all weekend but I gotta say the meet and greet was probley my most favorite time while at the show. Thanks to all that came. I hope everyone else enjoys meeting others as much as I do. Also like to thank Vance's lovely wife for baking and bringing the cookies. I did sample one. I'll post my photos hopefully later on tonight once I get them uploaded and resized.
Hey man, I've got one on my thread... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1357851&posted=1#post1357851 Hey Denise...smack Rudy for me. Hurry up and post yer pics, lady! Olson
Well I am at work right now.....working hard of course. (it is a shame they don't have USB ports on our desktops here at work though).
This guy was hammering me hard about getting an award and getting his whatever-it-is photographed. My personal opinion on the two of these cars is... I actually don't know what to say, except, LAME. Lame, if they were attempting to make hot rods. Zero hot rod style, zero knowledge of hot rodding. They were even trying to con their way into the winners circle. Yeah, yeah, someone will cry about creativity, but they were not even remotely in the hot rod or custom category. Someone has been reading too much Old Skool Rodz. Please STOP making these kind of cars. People lump these ****boxes in with us tradition-based budget hot rodders. Wait, maybe THEY were rat rods! Take them to one of those "art car" shows with all of the Barbie dolls and pennies glued all over. For the record... I would not let **** like this into Billetproof.
Like taking your Yugo to a Ferrari show and getting upset that nobody likes your car. Two different animals. Apples and oranges.
Kirk, Wish I could have met you at the show. We had a great time down there, as always. Perfect weather again. Any idea on # of entrants? I did see # 6000. Later,Bill
I'm sure glad you feel that way too Kirk! Those two cars built buy that so call hotrod shop/Machine shop whatever the **** they though they were, HORRIBLE!!!!! that is my opinion of them, ME and Denise were sitting in the vendor area having a icecream before we left sunday and they came in and did some more power parking What an insult to hotroding in general. A late model ranger frame and engine, it was discusting and a discrace to car builders in general. Please people dont think this kind of building of **** is cool. And yeah I didn't like them either if you couldn't tell from my rant
Or coming on here and crying for days about how no one wants to here about your totally hot Gremlin. Sorry, that just came out. I'll clean up the mess. Vance
6200? I'd swear it was much more. Anyway, it was a great show. Talked to KIRK!, saw him several times. I bet he thought I was stalkin' him Those two cars in question did what they were built for..Draw attention. I didn't like them. Walked right past them. But what about the hidious 88 T-bird with shoebox front and rear kits. How the hell did that get in? I'd rather drive the cow catcher thing. But you'll always have a few that make you scratch your head. There were still thousands of bad*** cars.
Thought there was more than that too. I'd never seen cars parked so far out and in different places as this year. The place was jambin'! Bill
I'm new, but I was wondering and didn't get to look. What did they call the cow catcher thing anyway? It's supposed to be 72 and earlier at this show. Actually heard about someone getting thrown out last year. The t bird with the shoebox sheetmetal at least sorta looks like a shoebox ford, like all the gl*** belly****on cars look like 37 Fords or whatever they're supposed to be. Nevermind, maybe I answered my own question. There were plenty of cars there that didn't have a single thing on them built before 72 I suppose. Wow this is a can of worms isn't it?
i think that guy with the t-bird is from up here (canada), unless there are 2 guys crazy enough to do that, it just doesnt look right.
