Customs Take 2....New (old) 54 Ford

When I was in high school there was a kid with a '52 - '53 Ford, stock. Over summer vacation he dropped in a Ford OHV engine (probably 239). He was cool beans after that.

 

That dash pic reminded me of the thing I liked most about my '54 Ranch Wagon...... the engine turned dash panels were very cool!

 

54 Fords are way cool! Grandpa’s first new car was a 54 2 door Mainline with a V-8 and overdrive. I’d like to find a nice 54 to build for Dad. I would change a couple of things, instead of a Y, I’d build a nice FE with an automatic. Dad sometimes has a hard time with a stick since his broken leg. Maybe a nice 390 with a little cam and a four barrel.

I too have had a p***ion for '54 Fords, owned a couple of Mainlines over the years. Just a week or so ago, I shared the story of my first '54 back when I was just a youngster in one of HRP's threads. Not going to go there again, look it up if interested! Last one that I owned was about 10 years ago, got it in a trade. Got it running and drive able and sold it to a kid in Texas. Wouldn't mind another one...

How’s the project coming along, I’m also doing a 54 5.0 aod, 8.8 rear end on air suspension. Hope all is good

It's coming along. As we speak, the car is in the street surrounded by my 'blast barrier'. Tomorrow morning, I'm on my back sandblasting the entire undercarriage, firewall and various other areas. I'm getting way too old for this!
