Guards all done now, not perfect but happy with result as it was my first attempt ( I was going to have some made for me - but glad I gave it a go ). Recently put engine back together with new gaskets, today I will install engine and box for the final time, a few pics. Glen
Been working on trunk ( boot in Aus ) area lately including fuel filler tube, nearly there, also built a power rack as local gym closed - unable to use yet as I tore a rotator cuff by falling off my KTM 300 stupidly, a few pics. Glen
Stay with it buddy, coming out great! Virus shit's good for something, look at your progress![emoji3] Sent from my VS988 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thanks Joe, I am happy with what I have done over the past 6 weeks, I have now finished and painted the trunk sheet metal panels. Just waiting for fuel tank to be tested and certified before I can assemble for the final time. Now working on finishing the cabin area including dash and painting seats etc. Glen
Trunk area finished now, tank certified and holds 68 litres ( approx 18 gallons ), sanded and clear coated seats, installed roll cage and now working on cabin area. Also needed to add bar to chassis under engine for registration. A few pics, Glen
Nearly finished interior panels, recently cut hole for gear shifter, made access hole for master cylinder, today I made kick panels - the left one will house the fuse panel and the right one is recessed to provide more clearance for throttle activation. Glen
Started to sort out wiring today, I brought an EZ wire 12 circuit system - not happy with cheap fuse panel that came with system, I plan to use the old American autowire fuse panel that was in car originally and make my own system out of the two. A few pics, Glen
A few pics of recent progress, modified alternator bracket as to close to frame, fabricated shroud for fan belt, modified and mounted headlight bar, remade rear exhaust pipes as they were hitting new top four link bars, mounted fuel pump and filter and mounted fuse panel and relays. Glen
Settled on dash design recently, also drilled firewall for wiring and added coil cover and fuel regulator - nearly ready to start the wiring process. Glen
Umm.... I don't know how to tell you this but, your steering wheel is on the wrong side! Lol! Car looks bitchen though! Sent from my SM-G960U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thanks guys, progress slowed now Im back at work, wiring is a slow process ( learning heaps though ) but Im getting there. Also fabricated fuel supply and return lines recently as well as covered the fuel tank in stickers - I like the look, a few pics. Glen
Recently painted all interior panels, now just have to assemble everything. Starting with front of car, I have lowered radiator support brace so that the bars are now level, mounted radiator and grille, installed headlights and wired them up, greased front wheel bearings and installed seals. Also punched some holes in seats and will paint them black, a few pics. Glen
Painted seats recently and today I started mounting carbs, machined spacers to make all carbs even height, also mounted radiator overflow, a few pics. Glen
I have made lots of progress recently, brakes finished and working, engine and trans started and running smooth, electrics finished and everything working as it should. Pics taken today when car started and reversed out of garage for the first time in 2.5 years. Glen
wud u mind either sending me pics or posting pics of how the rear fenders are attached...im thinkin about doing that myself Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
BigMo if you look back in this thread ( end of page 8 ) you will see how they were done, and Loadbang I agree with you, I like the blackwalls better myself. Glen
Good for you, Glen! You've done a lot of great work on that car. Must feel great to fire it up and drive it out of the garage. Mike
Thanks heaps Mike, it was a very satisfying moment when I first started the car, next will be my first drive down the road in a few days. Glen
Progress going strong, car is booked in for engineer inspection on 5/12. I have to use a new engineer as my original engineer Peter Turner was tragically killed testing a car recently, RIP Peter. Car is booked in for an initial inspection with new engineer but hopefully its the final one. Will keep you posted. A few pics of recent progress - I was not happy with my throttle cable as appeared to flimsily so I modified a handbrake cable to suit ( more heavy duty cable ), also recently finished wiring and installed carpet today. Glen
Took car out for first road test today, my son got to drive car for the first time ( before me ) following build. Brakes initially soft but became better as they bedded in. Car performed awesome except for a small mishap, right rear tyre grabbed guard and bent it a little - probably repairable. At least I learnt that guards need to be approx 1/4 inch above tyre - not 1/8 inch. Damaged happened after hard acceleration test, happy with test and will repair guard tomorrow - I am so glad that my $650.00 rear trye was not rendered useless or the body damaged. Glen
Thanks Kirky I recently took car to engineer and passed the inspection with only minor issues - bump stops on rear shocks and heat shield between exhaust and booster / master cylinder. Then had it inspected by ASRF official and now car is registered on Street Rod club rego. I still have lots that I want to do with this car but at least I can now use it this summer. Glen
@grdra1...Sorry About the loss of somebody you had got to know...Congrats on this Milestone...Happy New Year to you and all the other Hambers your way...
Thanks guys, Im pretty happy with my new year so far, just hope its a better year for all of us than 2020. Been sorting out a few issues lately, a front end wobble at certain speeds, I thought my tailshaft was not aligned properly, after lots of tailshaft / four link adjustments - turned out to be my front rims, the black ones. The red rims are now back on and the car drives nicely. Also have an anoying oil leak from 2 piece timing cover - I have purchased a new performance camshaft from Summit racing K1103 and when cam arrives I will fix leak by puttting stock timing cover back on. The turbo 350 has an anoying clunk sometimes when at slow speeds with no load on it but performs excellent otherwise - will rebuild box at a later date and can live with it for now. Went for my first long drive yesterday approx 120 miles on a beutiful sunny day with my wife, car performed awesome and was fun to drive, noisy and raw but fast when you put your foot down - cannot wait for the new camshaft. Cheers Glen
