Just had a feature on one of our main news channels of the two roadsters of Chris & Lincoln Harris and the flat head powered version of Hogan/Martin being loaded into the container for the trip to Bonneville. If you are going, say hi to these guys from 1/2 way round the world. Both teams have made several trips before but I guess The Fastest Indian movie has attracted attention to this years trip.
Chris is in a wheelchair, he broke his neck in a bad crash at B'ville some 20 plus years ago, his son Lincoln now drives the car. Pure dedication when you consider the cost & logistics of getting cars & equipment from New Zealand to B'ville.I believe both teams deserve the highest praise.

Yep, it certainly was great to see both cars on TV3 tonight - and didn't they come across as professional? The Hogan/Martin car was also on the TV1 Sports News last Saturday before the rugby test, so the WFI movie has certianly done wonders for the profile of the sport in New Zealand.

Just 1 small thing - the Hogan/Martin car is actually the Hogan/Martin AND Rea car. Big Andrew Rea has an important job to do - he is the driver! And he has put just as much effort into getting the car ready as Hogan & Martin. I was in Hamilton the weekend before last as the brand new race car trailer was getting packed and car loaded for the trip to USA. All I can say is this team is very focused and prepared to break their existing record, and hopefully get the flathead roadster over the 200mph mark.

that has got to be the most killer logo for a car I've ever seen...that kicks ***...I love the dedication it takes to go halfway around the world just to race, especially since they already have the record in their cl***...sounds like a bunch of top notch guys...best of luck to them and everyone else this year...

I'll be looking for them. Even if they don't get the 200 with the roadster their current 185+ record is remarkable!!!!

    c ya on the salt,

The car looks a bit different now as "Speedy Signs" have come up with some sponsorship, and their logo is on the car instead of the Kiwi Downundertaker....

I was inspired as a kid by Chris Harris and his Bonniville ***ault which I followed in NZHRM (damn that must be the 80's?). I still have those mags stashed at my parents house in NZ. Seeing this, Chris on the salt with his son is (again) truely inspiring.

Thats a great effort by both teams. I hope they all have a lot of fun and hopefully break a record or two.

    cheers
