COLOR stuff is old T-shirt art for our clubs annual car show. Most of it is drawn 4-color so it could be digitized for silk screen or transfer.
BLACK & WHITE stuff for Junkyard News which I co-pulished in the '80s, Also some old car show flyer art.
CARTOONS from Street Rodder Magazine...was a Contributing Artist for them in the '70s. early '80s

Hello,

Growing up in the surfing circles of So Cal, as well as the hot rod/drag racing group, we saw a lot of station wagons and trucks being used as basic transportation. Despite what a lot of people think of the 1957-65 era of drag racing, cars, trucks and station wagons played a big part in towing, pushing and becoming parts runners. It was the same story in the surfing circles. The cars, trucks and station wagons far out-numbered the famed, “Woody” wagon.

When Hollywood took over the social scene in all of the “surfer-type” teen movies, the woody wagon became well known. But, at the beaches, the regular station wagons out-numbered the woody wagons on any given day. If one could actually see a woody wagon. The woody had this aura of a beach lifestyle, but the original uses were for large families’ transportation and the big resorts having a station wagon to usher clients around the community.

The beach guys and girls used the lowest cost transportation they could get their hands on for daily driving. The woody wagon was beyond most people’s pocketbooks. It was also beyond most people’s skill to maintain the wagon on a daily basis. They were not the most popular due to security issues.

As an old 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery owner/driver for over 10 years with two different versions, one can see the issues that the sedan delivery has over the woody wagon. The main one being security. The other being privacy for the rear compartments. The wagons had curtains on all windows for some privacy, but it did not equate the total privacy of a steel body surrounding the activity/merchandise inside of the sedan deliveries.

This “1946 Ford Woody Sedan Delivery” takes the security and privacy to the next level. It would be the ultimate vintage surf transportation then and now. With the new surfboards being smaller and faster, they would just fit inside. No need for an outside roof top surf rack. But, in the era of longboards being the only rides, a roof rack could easily be attached.

Goodmoring everyone. (Jigger ) Mark Ervin, I just wanted to reply to your post from last week. First thank you for the encouraging comments. You don't know how much it meant to me coming from you. Because you sir are one of the greats! I really had to laugh at the sketch of your work desk. You could have sketched that in my garage. Notice we both have old TVs with a built in VSH tape player's and shelves full of toy cars. Lol. Thanks Ron....
