For Ford Australian Manufacture, only 39 and 40 in both Standard and Deluxe, the "Sloper" replaced the 37 (38) Club Coupes, I put the 38 in brackets as I believe the 38 Standard and Deluxe club coupes were a 37 carry over body with new grille, hood, and front and rear fenders, (more than happy to be corrected though).
I was about to alert you X38 but see you are onto it. The Sloper came about after the 33 Cadillac Aerodynamic V16 coupe. (Disappeared in the 60s) My mate in Perth has one of the four 34 Aerodynamic coupes built. Stunning body style.
From certain angles, some of these "Slopers" even display a hint of Chrysler's Airstream and Airflow designs.
A picture I took years ago at an Early Ford meet. Australian and US versions back to back. Good comparison.
It's weird that Peugeot got inspired by Ford for the 203 and that the Ford sloper look so much like the 203.
