I can always see the good in junk cars! This beauty kind of fell into my lap. The price was right, free, and I was at first thinking of just parting it out. The problem is, I really dig the 59-60 chevy's and the wife really digs wagons. So, she's missin some parts, but actually pretty solid, compared to the 51 when I got it. It's a 60 Kingswood 3 row with the 283 in it. Not to mention I got a line on a sweet running 305 with a metric for it. I'm not selling the chevy and I won't be starting on the wagoon soon, but looks like I got my next project
Free is better than cheap any day! As long as you have the room, sit on it and collect parts. Nice looking ride.(ya, I got the same problem).-MIKE
Yeah...it's a pretty universal problem a****st guys like us....then throw in a little obsessive/compulsiveness and you end up with 9 projects, 4,000 sq ft of parts and nothing completed like me! LOL. Naaaaahhhhh....we don't need help....we're recycling. That's a good thing, right?
thats the only kind i can afford!! looks waayyy better then some cars ive brought home...and later sold fer a tenths of what i payed!!!!! we all need to go to R.A. [rustaholics annoyomus]
Oof -- floorboard looks like Fred Flintstone could dig it . . . LOL! Great old wagon -- I was admiring a 59 earlier today and having wild thoughts. Free cars can be fun, if you have time/resources to do them.
With absolutely no money invested, you can afford to get wild and crazy with a car like that...and come out with a very cool looking wagon cuz you weren't afraid to take the road less traveled. Congrats on a nice score... R-
Man, Aaron. What did you just get yourself into??!!! If that was anything other than a Nomad or a Kingswood I would have suggested you just cut that thing up and move on. But since it *is* a Kingswood, it is worth saving. Not many of those out there. I suggest you set it aside and look for several donor cars (especially 60 4-door Bel Airs) that you can steal most of the parts from to resurrect the Kingswood. The toughest pieces to find are going to be the two steps on the rear bumper (***uming you do not have them already) Good luck!! Travis
I too suffer from the same affliction, I am picking up a '60 byscane parts car this weekend that was purchased to gleen some parts for my '60 Impala, I should end up with with most of the dash parts and other sundries you might need. As long as it takes, we can get through this together.
Dude, just be glad your old lady can see the potential in it. For free, keep it and find donor parts like the other guy said. Good luck, bud!
Hello my name is Megan and I am an autoholic also. Some people like to save puppies, some like to save orphans and I like to save old tin! Congrats on your find, looks like fun.
Good to see I have a support group! It's already sitting in my driveway. I just gotta move a 51 parts car and she'll be tucked away in the garage next to the Chevy.
Excuse me? I don't see any problem...........what problem? You're just doin' what we all do............that's not a problem, is it?
51 parts car? Whats that look like...don't hold back if you're coming clean here at RA/AH. We are here to support you. If it means an intervention (is it still on a trailer cuz I could take it tomorrow afternoon) then that is what we will do for a friend and fellow sufferer. If you can't see it from in front of the barn, it isn't there! I'll take the junk motor when its out as a precaution!
My name is Glenn and I am a car-o-holic.... I have four projects in the works and ALMOST bought Vances 48 Sedan delivery. Which way is the rubber room??
Free is always good. Looks ruff, but if worse comes to worse you can always pull a Plowboy special out of it.
My name is Lux and according to my wife,I suffer from A.D.D.-Automtive distracted disorder. it means that even if you are traveling at 90 miles per hour in rush hour traffic, if you happen to catch the gleam of 1 square inch of old chrome from the 1950 whatyacallit rusting away in a feild, your head will whip around like it is on a swivel and you will drive through the ditch at a high rate of speed to get to it. it's dangerous as hell, but it makes for fun road trips!
i bet your home movies of your vacation trips are hilarious if that's the case haha i damn near spit out my drink after reading that.
i have it too.i cant remember names to save my life ,but i can take you to evry old car ive seen in feilds ,behind barns .behind houses.doent matter if i saw it i can get back to it...
Hey Dan, so I was putting the sheetmetal back on my 51 parts car, and decided to stick the running 216 from the chevy in it just to get the engine out of the way. While working I realize the floor in this car isn't too bad, better then the Chevy's was. All it needs is some rockers. Ha, I can't even get rid of a parts car that I already parted out! ****, I need more room!!!!!
Be careful guys.......you might end up opening a shop to hide your affliction. I started thinning the heard last year with 17 vehicles. I'm down to 25. Good score on the Wagon.
You do need more room... you should think about moving west... much more space for the money. great score, I always thought it would be SWEET to build a wagon variation of the buddha buggy.
