I love the optimism of the parachute. It does look good and ads to the total package.

Optimism as in you hope it opens, or as in the truck going fast enough to need it?

John wanted to add the chute because the ECTA Arkansas mile has a short shut down area which means we need to slow down quicker than at Bonneville, so it's not just for looks.

How much shut down? My 40 Chevrolet went 151 at El Mirage and could be off the track just over a 1/4 mile. Old cars and trucks are a brick unless your going to pop it out of gear which I don’t see you doing with an automatic. Still looks great m and I hope you don’t need to use it in an emergency.

Not sure how much shut down, but I know John has my best interests (safety) top of mind. :) We've talked about removing the chute for Bonneville.

I wish to inform everyone that the April event for the ECTA 1/2 & 1 mile land speed event is postponed.
No new date has been noted at this time.
I had planned to cancell the trip to Arkansas in a few weeks anyway because of all that is going on with the pandemic. I didn't want to put the Crew and myself in harm's way not knowing what could be out there. We will regroup and plan another attempt for the event when things get better.
On behalf of the crew of the Virginia H.A.M.B. Special we thank everyone who is sacrificing by staying home to combat this pandemic.
    This too shall p***....

Looks like water pump belt should have gone on first. Any tensioner or alternator to tighten?

Just want to thank the 640 crew Scott Robertson, Dave Russell, Sam pollard and Dan Urbansky and everyone who have made this extraordinary journey possible. We have made great progress in preparing the truck. To say we are excited is an undrestament to say the least. Just over 7 weeks to go..

    Crew work day report..
After pulling the front and rear brake drums for inspection we found the right front wheel cylinder leaking.
I have replaced both front wheel cylinders and brake shoes. Got to keep 20200616_121550.jpg 20200616_121615.jpg the driver safe..

thanks to Jeff at AED fuel systems for the wet flow calibrations. Collected data from 2018 as for al***ude and weather the air / fuel ratio should be very close.
    Thanks Jeff

Just remember they are just numbers to be used like any other tool. They don’t know anything about traction, al***ude, air density, and wind resistance in Utah in the month of August. The best truest dyno is the salt. Good luck.
