This PU is my everyday driver. All original, except for 12 volt system.
A couple of weeks ago it quit and I got down to the problem.
Cam timing gear stripped. It's apart except I need to remove the oil pan to clean out any debris from the stripped gear and to replace the crank gear and install a new front seal.
I've removed all the bolts I can see but there seems to be one on the lt. rear that I can't see.
The reason I believe there's one back there is I have the pan set and there are 8 bolts down each side, and I have only removed 7 on the lt. side.
I tried to remove the plate the starter attaches to but it will only drop down about a half inch on the rt side and nothing on the left. I think this plate has one bolt hidden above it on the very back.
Anyone ever tried removing a truck pan while it's still in the vehicle?

I'll try and upload a photo of the truck.

Yes, starter is out and all the bolts are out of the plate the starter attaches to.
I can get the plate to drop down on the starter side because there is something to pry against, the other side, not so much.

    Flathead V8.
    I've got it removed.
There were 2 bolts that hold the crank seal adapter in place.
Before I found them I did get the starter plate removed, to do that I put a support under the oil pan and loosened the bolts holding the bell housing up to the block, I then slowly lowered the support under the pan. The small bit of room this gave me allowed me to pry the starter plate down and out of the way.
Because of all the road dirt and oil it was still very hard to see the 2 allusive bolts.
Tomorrow I'll pull the pan all the way out and get it cleaned up.
I would have done that today but a storm came up and my 2 post lift is outside and I don't like to be under it when there is very much wind.
Anyway it looks like I'm on my way to getting this baby back on the road.

Every so often I see this mentioned by one of you " I use my old vehicle as my daily driver" I,ve always dreamed that I could say that some day .Never did or will ,too cold of Winters, too old to start another project. I envy those of you that can say that..... Gene in Mn

There are times I elect to drive something else. Like when it gets below 15 above the heater won't keep up if it's overcast or when it's over 95 with high humidity, the 2/60 AC just won't keep up.
