History July 4th Cruise Night In Denver

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by OG lil E, Jun 24, 2020.

  1. Hey everybody, I don't know if it's like this where you are, but here in the Denver area, there has been practically no car activities at all since the Covid-19 thing blew into town. I've seen posts here on the HAMB showing some cruising here and there, but nothing around here.
About a month or so ago, the lowrider community here in Denver decided to try and revive the old tradition of cruising 38th Avenue like it was in the 70s and 80s. People have been cruising out there on Saturday nights a little bit for the last month, but the return has been slow. I talked to a few of the guys I know that have hydraulic or lowrider shops in Denver about making a flyer to get the word out on the cruise and they said it was a good idea, although the modern flyer of Facebook or social media was a better way to promote things nowadays. Maybe social media is the best modern way, but some of us aren't into social media, and an "old fashioned" flyer might be the best way to get the word out to us old schoolers.
The flyer was geared to the lowrider community, but everyone I've talked to said they would love to see other kinds of cool cars out cruising, not just lowriders. So with the blessing of the lowrider elders of Denver, I'm here to post the flyer and invite any of you out there to join in on the cruise on Independence Day, Saturday, July 4th, 2020. The circuit will be will be on 38th Avenue from Lipan (by Chubby's) all the way up to Tennyson (where Elitch's used to be), and things should get rolling about 5:30.
So bring out your hot rod or custom and join us in celebrating America's birthday. We'd love to see you out there. The Metalflake Misfits will be hanging out in the parking lot of a vacant building just west of the corner of 38th and Lowell on the south side of the street. If you want to say hello, stop in. We're planning to have a group of customs gathered there. Should be a fun evening. All the city asks is that we be responsible and practice social distancing and wear masks if possible. Man this whole virus thing is wearin' me out! Hope to see you there! E

  6. Sorry man, no pics. I don't know if it was the light rain early in the evening or the fact that it was a holiday or whatever, but the turnout was very small. Probably should have saved my gas and stayed home. E
