Actually the term was Dago'd. In socal slang Dago is short for San Diego.

No photo because it’s waaaay to new but my F-150 has California Rake and old style wheels...I can’t believe how many and how much ($$$$) guys spend to “level” these newer trucks. My wheels do meet HAMB rules. 536486E1-8E2D-4277-8293-93F3869A83D5.jpeg

Actually, Mr. Fish's first name was Paris. Great info, as usual, Kevin. There was never enough info on Paris, he had an extensive hot rod background...

Early 60's, So-Cal, a guy moved to town from the mid-west driving a tail dragger. Only took him a couple of days to loose the blocks and flip the shackles.

The California rake, in my opinion, looks best when it looks like you've dropped a few inches and *almost* level then stuffed in a motor (engine) that's just a *little* too big. Too much tip and you've achieved the stink-bug look from the '70's and '80's.

This one is PERFECT in my eyes. Low and just a bit down in front - like a cheetah or jaguar ready to pounce.

I remember cars with jacked up ass ends usually having the rear quarter panels caved in from fish tailing due to having a bound up four link rear end.. There's only three inches up and down of movement in those four link rear ends..
Leaf springs are totally different.. Those extended shackles always looked so cool on those 57s... This is one of the few photos I found with them.. It was taken at PID Pittsburgh International Dragway. When you raise the rear end you need to add more positive caster to the front or your steering will be very touchy and skiddish..
I really dig that 57 in the old PID (Pittsburgh International Dragway) photo..
