Vacuum gauge will tell you if exhaust is restricted

  2. Personally, I think you should give up on it and sell it to me! [emoji16] My first bought and paid for truck was a 1966 F-100 with an FE. I’ll even pickup it up and buy you a tenderloin!

My first bought and paid was a 1973 Impala. Land yachting at it's finest. I'm not to the give up point yet! My wife has said to give it at least a year! I'm really trying to put some love in it. Poor thing was just unloved. Ya never know what the future holds tho.....

  4. How about a MaidRite then? Keep at it, you will figure it out. By the way, I was born and raised in Iowa.

So FINALLY I was able to sort out the blockage. The heat riser IS working but the donut was actually melted and blocking it mostly closed. There was a little play but only what turns out to be about 20%. I've got a new donut mounted, tied the valve open and have cut away a bunch of old pipe including a muffler that looked like a colander. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get new pipe joined and muffler mounted. Need that done so I can finally get her legal on the roads.

She's all legal like and in the good graces of the State of Nebraska. Got the driver's side exhaust replaced and def have a performance boost. I run out of gears at about 75. Not too bad though as she's not exactly the most aerodynamic. Once I have both sides done up she should sound pretty tasty :) Thanks again everyone for your input!
