well folks - a few weeks ago i was out in my 5 window with one of my buddies and we got talking about cars as you do - i mentioned i have always liked '35 roadsters but being in the UK didnt think i would ever get the chance of owning one. Well 2 days later a mag came in from the early ford club and to my absolute amazement there was one for sale - allegedly rust free (how many times have you heard that??) - guys had owned the car for the last 37 years or so. so i called him and managed to buy the car sight unseen, went to look at it a week later or so and the car was really nice, just as he described it. well today i got it home, it was a little dusty and grimy as it had been sitting in his garage for a while because he wasnt using it any more, so i gave it a quick clean and couldnt believe how good condition it is in. i feel really quite humble at being given the chance to have both my cars - today i just sat and looked at them for a while, didnt move or speak or anything - just sat on the ground and stared at them.. would love to know some of the stories they could tell. heres some pics from today - got loads more but need to get my web site updated and get them on there
Wow, I am so jealous, now the old man will have to add another to my list of cars he needs to find for me
It's nice, but the steering wheel is on the wrong side. Hahaha, just kidding. I would kill to have a 35-36 roadster, let alone a roadster AND a coupe! Congrats!
Weemark....you **** ....that's awesome. What a beautiful car....you must feel horrible about this!!!!! Just kidding....excellent find mi amigo!
i think the only canadian link is the car was built in canada - there is a tag on the firewall which says "made in canada for dagenham" - dagenham being the main ford plant in the UK. ive been led to believe by a few folks that this is the only roadster in the UK - dont know if there are any other RHD roadsters either but would be very intrigued to know
wow...a real 35 roadster......i don't mean that being smart...i'm serious....you just don't hardly see roadsters in anything other than model a's and 32s.... i grew up being told that a 35 or 36 roadster IS the most beautiful car produced.....i surely can't argue.... i'm really glad for you...congrats and thanks for sharing.... btw.....i hate you! another btw......i didn't know that 35 coupe belonged to you.....i want that car just as badly.....maybe even more
FY - i think 35/36 are the nicest of all the early fords too - i know that im a little bias but hey.. your right there doesnt seem to be a lot of these about - even less so in the UK...
Man, do I ever want this car: http://www.dealsonwheels.com/search/detail.aspx?id=82944 Just out of curiosity, how much did you pay for the roadster?
yep i seen that roadster about a month ago now.. thought it was a cheap car for what it was and it seemed pretty complete - however i must have got the buy of the centruy because i paid no where near the one you have the link to. tbh the money was meant to be put towards a new house - stuff the house though - you only have one chance to get the things you enjoy the most in this short life...if i need the money i can always get it from the bank for the house!
Wow, if you got yours for less than that one on the link, you DID get the buy of the century Nice car, and congrats!
well was out early today to get it tested then taxed - im all legal on the road now - just got to keep putting petrol in it and enjoy it
We got Canadian Fords down here as well. There are a handful of factory RHD 35 and 36 roadsters still around. There are more in Aussie, but they were made there and are a bit different to the US/Canadian ones.
