    Ahh.
    There are no muffler bearings or a shore line visible in that pic, as is required is any riddle.

    OK folks , got a winner and one really close. Yes the synchro has moved too far forward , the balls should not be visible. I fixed it by putting a hose clamp around the hub and sliding the sleeve back over the balls. Everything in trans went together nice and correct , the problem is in the shift tower, lots of wear in various place, noticed when shifting in third the shifter could be moved a smidgen more that needed allowing forks to push the sleeve a tad too far, by then they can move on like you see in pic which will result in being stuck in third.

    It is close enough for what needs to be seen, btw 600 wt is what was recommended and is what they ran when new , it is thick as hell . However , you might be right , we will see.

    I confess, it was all that 221 ci 85horsepower that did it in.
