When I was a little kid, yes it was a loooong time ago, my Dad had a buddy named Jack with a hopped up 50 Olds coupe. The guy was always working on that Olds to make it faster as he was a big time street racer. In 1955 Dad bought a new Buick, the first time we went over to Jack's house he had to try the Buick, just for fun. Dad was not much of a racer but he was not one to chicken out on a challenger either. Long story short, the Buick beat the Olds by a half a fender. When they got back to Jacks place he never said a word, pulled the Olds in the garage and started draining the radiator. He told Dad when he can't beat a bone stock heavy assed Buick by at least a car length it was time for a major change. Dad always said the main reason Jack was so pissed is that they had raced for a case of beer and Jack hated to loose but he hated to have to buy the beer more.
I'm building a new one. 1956 Olds '88' converted to a Nomad/Safari wagon. Chopped an inch and a half. Going for more of a concept car look, than a custom car look. But it certainly IS a C ustom!
I sold this one around 2005 at the Shades of the Past in Pigeon Forge. I lost track of her after that. I was told she is in S Carolina but have never seen any confirmation. I would love to know what became of her and know if she has a good home. ) John Long
