Projects Carpet for 53 Ford hardtop same as Merc?

Howdy all, haven't posted in a while......Found a good deal on those pre-cut carpets....I have a 53 Mercury Hardtop......The place that I found with the good pricing has kits for 52-54 Merc Sedan, which will not fit. They also have the kit for the Ford Crestline hardtop from the same years, but...couldn't/wouldn't confirm that the kit would work in the Merc. Can anyone confirm? Thanks in advance.

 

Probably won't work, the Ford has a 3" shorter wheelbase and they generally add this in the passenger compartment. So while there's some latitude in how the carpet is fitted, I don't think you'll find 3" worth. The Merc sedan will likely be closer as it shares wheelbase with the hardtop, but may need some trimming in the rear floor area.

If I were going to take a chance, I'd go with the Merc 4-dr carpet.

I would ask the guy who makes the carpets.

 

They wouldn’t or couldn’t confirm that the Vicky carpet or any other would work in the Merc hardtop

What you should do is change the post title to 'Need floor measurement for '53 Ford Hardtop'. A ford guy won't know if the carpets the same...
