I've been wondering will 57 front fenders hood and grille fit on a 59 ford? I've searched around but I can't find anything. I know it's a odd question but I'm curious.

    Thanks

Ethan... I recall some '57 Ranchero (and Fairlane 500 guys) bolting Edsel front fenders, hoods, grilles on, (some guys hated it, but that Edsel front on a Ranchero looked ***s to me...)
I don't think a Hollanders manual would tell, as it's not a restoration of same model sheet metal.
There are lots of '57-'59 Ford guys on here, so an answer is probably forthcoming.
(what're ya gonna do about those hideous taillights??? Hope you can fit some '57 quarters on!)

We'll I have a 59 wagon and love the looks of it from the front doors back but the front end is kinda ugly lol and I love the front end on the 57 fords. Hopefully some one will know I'm mostly just curious but I haven't ever seen one done like it. Thanks for the info

Anything is possible with enough modifications but being a bolt on,,,a resounding No.

The couture of the '57 Fords front fenders where they meet the door are considerably rounder at the top than the '59. HRP

  5. Figure on swapping front doors too while you're scrounging '57 parts

Thanks for the info. And hrp that's what I was looking for. I know "it can be done" but at the same time I'm not going to cut up and modify a good sound original.

    Sell the '59 and buy a '57.

'57 and '58's are pretty similar.

  13. OK, So this was a really good question. I've always known sitting in and driving a 57/58 verses a 59 just felt different. Never was sure why till now. It's amazing even with 59 being ***ociated with 7&8's, the 59 is a breed all it's own. The rediaus of the sholder from top to side is totally different. A 57/8 has a removable cowel cover and on the 59 the hood goes within 1 1/4" of the windshield. That fender radeius around the windshield corner is totally different between the 2 cars. So here is the big difference I found and explains why the 2 cars feel so different when driving. Opening the door and measuring from sill plate to top of fender mount point and the 57 is 25". Same place on the 59 and it's only 23 3/4". That means the 59 is a shallower body car. It's like sectioning a 57 1 - 1/4" . Also the horozontal ledge that's just below the lower fender molding is much higher on the 59 as it is right at the upper molding. Lot's to take in there. I wouldn't say it can't be done but the 2 body's are as different as a you and me. The 57 Doors will not bolt on the 59 Body. The hinge spacing is different. The 59 even has a 1 year only windshield. Not the normal for Ford by any means.
So now I know the answer to why it always felt so strange to get into the 59 after driving a 57. I hope this helps you decide what to do or not do. By the way, I'm getting my 59 ready to sell. It's an all stock 2d Ht. F E drive it anywhere car. Not cheep but you can't turn a project into what I have for the price. If this interests ya send me a P.M.

Wizzard, thanks for the detailed explanation. Odd thing to me is, I always thought the '59 body looked "taller" than the '57/'58, from the rocker panel to the top of the cowl......turns out it is just the opposite.
The '59 has always looked narrower to me as well..........probably isn't.........so much for optical illusions.:D

Just curious, will the '59 Mercury front clip bolt on a '59 Ford? I always liked the front of the '59 Mercury a little more.
