I intend to run a '36 dash in my '28 A coupe and was wondering what alternative gauges have been used over the years in place of the stock units in these panels?
While I do appreciate the stock 1936 gauges, I'm just not wild about the idea of the goldish face color with what I have planned for coupe.

So, what gauges would be a direct fit? I believe the speedo from 35-38 will fit directly.
The '37 Deluxe speedometer is sharp:

As are the '36 Chev (35 maybe?) however I am unsure they have the same diameter.

I love the silver of the 1934 Ford speedo but again, am unsure it is the same diameter?

I swear I have seen somewhere a set of AC replacement gauges for the OE Ford ones but try as I might I can't find that post again. I like the idea of a black and white face as it would make replacing the vitals gauges easier as well.

I'm aiming for an early/mid 50's look with my car and as such am not interested in modern gauges or dismantling a stock speedo and having a vinyl decal applied.

Been thinking about this topic on and off for some time and thought, after a few searches and a decent amount of time poking around here and there on the net, I should make a thread that will hopefully help both myself and anyone else who finds themselves wondering the same.
Hopefully those of you with first hand experience can help a guy out!

I put 59 Chevy gauges in my 36 Ford. Looked nice. Don't have pictures sorry.

I used after market white gauges in my 36 dash. I scanned the stock speedometer face and had it digitally printed in white by a sign shop and glued it to the stock speedometer. It matches the new white gauges pretty good.
