Back in thelate 80's / early 90's I struggled with where to put the fuel tank on my Model A Tudor Sedan. It is a fenderless car. I liked the '32 rear mount tanks but on a fenderless car they look bad (IMHO) 'cause they hang down too low. Plus I wanted to show off the rear suspension.

I ended up making a gas tank in the shape of the rear seat. The tank mounts to the frame, and then there is a sheet metal cover that goes over the entire tank that mounts to the floor of the body.

My photos kind of **** 'cause this was "pre-digital" so I had to scan the pictures.

    As it looks today:

10 gauge flange on floor. Cover bolts to this:

Gas Tank sticking up through hole in floor. Cover not installed:

    Gas tank mounted on frame:

Lakeroadster-nice job and an excellent presentation. You should re-post it for Tech Week.

The "Crafty B" is similar, but not the same one shown on my Tudor. I bought the cap from Speedway back in the mid 90's. It is cast aluminum and is "as cast" not shiney like the one in the Crafty B link.

I don't think speedway sells these caps anymore.

As long as the tank is ventilated properly and doesn't build more than 7.5 to 8.5 psi the needle and seats in the carb will hold the pressure.

For everyone who asked, I got the cap off EPay and I think it is a marine or motor cycle cap.
It is SS and not aluminum.

Pretty old thread now, but can't hurt to keep info flowing into it.
I got a 1929 Model A Tudor with a 25 US gallon gas tank set under the floor between the end of the transmission back almost to the diff.
I run parallel rear 4 link suspension and run my exhaust pipes under the splash aprons.
Works well and don't need too many gas stops.
I have an unfinished 1929 Model A closed cab Pickup and plan a similar gas tank for it and find that I can get 26 gallons into that one.
