Unfortunately, I have bad news, Guys. The annual Chief Blackhawk Swap Meet in Davenport, Iowa has been cancelled this year. I’m a member of Chief Blackhawk, and this is my favorite event of the year. 2020 Sucks. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
That makes two of us. At first our board decided to have it, then less than one week later they canceled it. First time in 20 years that Dad and I have missed it. As much as we enjoy Sturgis, Davenport is our favorite yearly event. Are you a vender? Don’t worry, we will be there next year. Shit, it just occurred to me, no Brats from Steve’s Meat Shop! Damn, now I am depressed. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I had a great hoard of parts bikes. Sold the entire pile for $400. We still have a trail 90 , a Rupp, a cushman, A pepboys with dual rear wheels and a BMW with a sidecar.
I was born and raised about an hour north of Davenport. Built and raced dirt track stock cars on the 1/2 and 1/4mi. at Davenport. Ran my vintage dirt track midget in 1990 on the 1/2mi. My brother has a vintage 1948 Indian and is trying to put another one together. We just enjoy the entire event......and I miss the pork loin sandwich more than you miss the braut !!!
I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids! Now we live about 40 miles southeast of St. Louis Missouri, on the Illinois side. You are 100% right about the tenderloins. Very tough to find one south of Keokuk. The Davenport meet is such a big deal with my Dad and I, every once in a while, I think, I’ll look for one in Davenport, aw, nuts, I can’t believe it’s not going to happen this year. A couple older bikes I worked on years ago. The 37 80 inch flathead was a buddies that I painted for him and the shovel was mine. I sold the shovel years ago, but my buddies son still has the flathead and is trying to get it back on the road again after scattering the motor several years back.
I would have to do a lot of work to uncover the BMW to get a picture. I dont know what all was in the parts bike hoard,> our middle son Chris was a motorcycle enthuastis. He bought every bike that came into the local scrap yard. Paid by the pound and bought a load per week. and took back aluminum and junk parts to pay for that weeks purchase. He died in a car crash 27 years ago.

Less than one week before we leave for Sturgis! It’s been five years since our last trip, can’t wait! I’ll post pictures if I find H.A.M.B. friendly motorcycles! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
