Here's the quick poop on Sombrero's. Thanks to Flamedabone and Roothawg for pasing this on to me. Here's your basic Sombrero, there are two types, chrome or stainless.
Cut off that cup on the back.] Buy a set of those cheap trim rings and take em apart for the guts. Install the guts on the back of the Sombrero and dolly the edge over. Install on car and have a beer!
Pretty slick, man. That's one of those ideas that as soon as I saw it, I wondered why it had never occurred to me before in my life. Simple, obvious... and yet, genius.
Mine look just like that, but they already attach around the outside..Different year maybe? Good idea though.... Cody

Cody [/ QUOTE ] No, they are not a different year, as no Caddy sombreros snapped on around the outer edge and they were all center mount. You probably have the lookalikes that were popular in the mid 50s.
chopt50, Having seen Flamedabone do the original set I can tell you there were originally caddy to start.. like the first post noted, you have to cut the back side of the hubcap and pry it up to allow a ring to attach...
where did you buy the trim rings? do you know what brand they are? i tried some cambodian tire trim rings without much luck. is that olds for sale?
Thanks for the tip. I a looking for more ideas and This could help me a lot. Got to see if my friends know about this.
