I have a 55 crown with 3 inch lowering blocks, I want to install air shocks with onboard compressor to raise rear only to clear Steep drives, speed bumps etc, then deflate to minimum as soon as obstacles are cleared. The only airshocks I can find is the Gabriel Hyjacker 49105 which is out of stock everywhere I look. What is everyone else using? Any other brands make them or know a source? Thank you

Monroe and ACDelco both have 'em. I had some Monroes on a company car back in the 70s . I didn't really care for 'em that much. The ride had a sharp rebound, felt kinda like riding on a beach ball.

Thank you, Monroe makes air shocks but their web site says unavailable for a 55 Ford , I’m not going to use them to lift the car on normal roads, just to raise rearend to clear steep drives that crush exhaust tips, normal driving will only be about 5lbs. I’ll check ACDelco thanks

Thank you, those will fit? My car is at the restro shop so I’m going by memory, I know 55 has studs on both ends but I thought shocks were much longer, maybe just skinner, the extra diameter doesn’t foul anything ? Thanks again for replying

All I did was look for 49105 (that you provided) and this came up. Really don’t know anymore.

Bought Monroe for my wagon. Get some lift, but the angle of the shock is so bad that you don't get a bunch of lift....
You might be better changing the upper shock location to straighten them up if you need some decent lift...unless sedans are straighter from the factory. I have drop spindles, aerostar springs...2" blocks and re-ached my springs.

That is true the angle is too much, relocating to get them more straight up would be good idea also giving added lift to make changing a tire easier.

I was looking for air shocks for my 61 Starliner and found out they no longer made them for that car. So I called up Monroe or Gabriel (forget which one) tech line and the guy looked up a set that would work. They were an inch shorter that what was called for but they worked fine.
