They cancelled this year. For 2021, was able to get a room at their registration hotel. 12 hr drive for me.
I was at the '77 and '79 Nats up there - a nice long day's drive up I-35 from Kansas City (remember, this was 55mph), but it was stinkin' cool, especially in a long line of rods from the Rod-Tiques. Talk about shady places. A bit far from Scottsdale unless someone wants to give me a winning PowerBall ticket, or if some rich lady wants to adopt me...
I worked a few shifts at the front gate over the weekend, they were about 75% done with the construction of the new gate and entrance area. With the event starting on Thursday, they paved the entire entrance on Sunday and laid all the sod on Tuesday. Most people thought that the newly sodded areas at the front gate was roped off to people, but it was for cars and the signs all said no parking. Not many people wanted to put up tents and sit on freshly sodded and water logged ground...
Thanks for posting Brian. I hope to get back to the Nats one of these days. I haven't been there since 2008.
I don't waste my time in these tent cities. The tents create horrible shadows that no amount of post-editing can remove. Give me a couple more days until I can access a FIOS link and I'll put up my 400+ pictures.
Got there on Monday, helped Dennis O'Brien set up his booth on Tuesday, went to the cruise at Mike Linnings Tuesday night, judged New Products on Thursday and Safety Inspections on Saturday. Spent the day Friday shooting pictures but I need a FIOS link to upload them. My DSL won't cut it. Entry #1
https://www.flickr.com/photos/92382895@N07/albums/72157715524322751 Sorry for the delay. Wound up in the hospital for a few days. Acute pancreatitis. Anyway, the high resolution pictures are up for anyone to download.
Thanks for (1) taking the pictures, (2) posting them up for us to slobber over, and (3) not getting yerself kilt from the pancreatitis! Hope everything is working itself out.
