Good tip. I do plan on a "traditional" build. I will start a new build thread once I get started on it.

    Thanks!

I finally got the flathead out, and a fresh 302 in the car. I know I'm breaking some hamb rules with the serpentine belt, but to me it's not that important. I did try to paint it up like a 65 hipo 289. Fyi, fox mustang oil pan, explorer front drive and a Durango clutch with a Thunderbird fan. I went with a t170 4spd and made the clutch linkage. Im not much of a blogger, but I will help with pics and measurements if needed

not sure if you mentioned anywhere, but what kind of steering box and manifolds are you using? Also what wiring harness did you use for the alt?

I used factory explorer cast manifolds, which are not pretty, but they fit tight and are light, believe it or not. I wrapped them, and that keeps alot of heat down. I used a big gm 800 series box, I think from a Chevelle I was told. I made the alternator harness. Ran the sensing wire all the way to my distribution bus, (yellow/white), and the green/red is the turn on wire. Output is the blue fuse link, ran to the same distribution bus.

If I would have used the smaller 625 box, I think manifold selection would have been easier.

I did run the Ford gt-40p head with the funky plug angles, cause they are affordable and breathe good for stock.

ok thanks. I got my box off a 70? Nova, but I'm running an 80's 351w so maybe I'll have a little extra space from the steering box. I was thinking the same thing with the engine paint scheme. engine.jpg

Looks good. I run the duraspark distributor and a GM 4 pin module under the dash. I have no road miles on it,but it's a hot spark. Starts immediately.

I also ditched the mechanical fuel pump to get it as low as possible in the chassis.

Better shot of motor mounts. 20200614_210328_HDR.jpeg 20200614_210418_HDR.jpeg 20200203_171806.jpeg
