It been 100 degrees here too. I did manage to get my steering wrapped up in my 32 chevy. I used a 51 chevy car box, plenty or grinding machining and welding and, I finally finished. It even works!

    It needed it ... :)
Glad to see it being done. It was one of the "to do" things when I put Lukeman on that new TCI ch***is.

I like your plans a LOT better ...

I do really miss Lukeman ...
More than I thought I would ...
But, I am glad you are taking so much better care of him than I was.
He is in much better hands now ...

Sadly ... I would have made him a street rod ... eventually ...

Made major progress on chopping a '35 Ford 5W coupe. Top is pretty much there, just a small filler patch or two to go. Still need to put the doors back together. Coming along nicely...

Oh, and that's just a dark spot in the wood next to the trim. Man, I wish I'd noticed that before I installed it.

Spent the rest of the weekend cleaning, painting, and throwing out the previous owner's trash (completely filled the dumpster and then some). Got the truck running again (just bad plug wires), and meant to get the throttle linkage done on the '51, but I ran out of time.

Drove about 51/2 hours to pick up a set of used custom made stainless steel roadster side pipes. Got a really good deal on em'! BTW, anybody know of a good method of restoring the finish on stainless steel that has turned a yellowish gold from lack of attention and cleaning?

  11. My brain hurts....

I drove 200+ round trip in a mini van with no A/C in 96 dgree weather to get some fenders and sheetmetal for a truck I don't even own yet. In the heat I must have started having visions because I think I'm gonna cut the 2 rear fenders from a '54 Dodge truck up to make a grille shell.

I got the ****** Header dual's back from media blasting and after two coats of POR-20, even the 100+ degrees in the garage couldn't deter me from trying to get them in the '61 Comet ...

BUT... The steering gear has multiple "issues" with them:

    > The center link is right in the way of the tubes (and the starter)

I "flipped" the link by reaming the idler arm and pittman to mount it from the bottom. :

    > The idler arm bracket interferes significantly with the # 2 tube and more problematic, the # 1 tube interferes with the idler arm when it swings left (right turn):

The solution for me was the precision forming tool (BFH)
I had the idler arm in and out at least a dozen times marking, heating and "forming" to minimize damage. :

I am concerned with the amount of restriction I made on the #1 tube . I probably crushed it @ 30-40%.

Well, I had a wheel stud break in a way that I can't explain. It had to have been defective or in a bind and weakend because I was hand tightening the nut when it broke. Either that or my friday night dates have made me super strong in the left hand.

I got to make some parts runs because everything I touch now breaks or everything I buy is defective or missing something.

I managed to kill an air hose...actually it just collapsed from age but my Dad and buddies get more miles out of putting the blame on me.

We did get a lot of project work done on three different cars, so all was good. :D

Friday I drove home from 2 weeks away - 750 miles. Left at 6.30am, and arrived home at 8.30PM. Slept in Saturday morning, then unpacked and cleanes up a bit. Had a "nanna nap" in the afternoon, and Sunday morning went to a local swap, had lunch with some friends and then had a mini shed crawl before crashing again early Sunday night.
