Av8 with original gas tank. Installed a Holly Elect fuel pump and regulator in engine compartment to fuel (2) Stromburg 97`s. Regulator was supposed to operate from 1 to 30 lbs pressure. Regulator
is adjustable. I backed off several turns on the adjuster but it still flooded the primary carb. There were no instructions with the regulator to set it up properly. Would the gravity flow tank be enough to operate those carbs without the pump? The fuel went through the gl*** bowl to the pump then the fuel line went up to the regulator then pressure gauge then distribution block.

  2. My guess is when the tanks full it will work.As it empties you wont have the weight of the fuel pushing it to the engine. The A was a down hill run to the carb. The V8 will be more cross flow from the tank.

yes sir... brother and I had a model A cowl and ch***is, I rode the running board brackets with a soda bottle with a funnel and hose taped on... if I held the bottle just above the block, gas level barely moved, ran great...
I lifted the bottle to 18" above the block and the gas would "dump" into the carb, I watched the bottle empty, it still ran good but ****ed up all that extra gas...
    .
IMO... no pump needed with a banger...
the carb is much closer to the tank hight on a v8...
we did not ever do that so no idea if that gives enough fuel ? ?
my $0.02... go mainer go !

That link you had, Glen, is the one I installed. I should have backed out the adjustment as far as it would go and start from there. I am going to email Holly and show them what I have for situation and see where it takes me. I would like to get this buggy on the road before snow fly's. Thanks guys.

I ran my banger powered Model A with a 94 and no fuel pump for a long time and was headed up a long hill with a partial tank of gas and it wouldn't feed fast enough to keep running. The 97's and 94's aren't designed for much pressure, I ran about 2 1/2 pounds with an electric fuel pump and regulator., If you're running a a flathead why not run the stock fuel pump ?

You can use those Mr. Gasket low pressure electric Fuel pump. They work great without regulators.
