I’ve come across a banjo rear out of a 1936 pickup 1/2 ton. Are there any differences between a 36 car rear and the truck? I’d like to run in a fenderless Av8 roadster. model a frame with a mild flathead and 39 three speed wit f1 cross member and brakes.
Same rear in pickup as car: But, look at the lower center flange of banjo for ratio. Some pickups had lower gear ratios than cars, 4.11, also 4.44 comes to mind... 'A' frame with F1 center member's a good way to go, but may be made better with a pair of diagonal braces from center of cross member back to frame rails. (like rear of Ford X-member) As @Roothawk says, width may be a factor. I have a '36 rear under my '27 T tub, with '35 Ford V8 wire wheels. Actually, very narrow. Your results may vary.
Width should be fine for a fender less A. 35-36 rears have the wishbones with the spring hangars part of them. 36 would have mechanical wide 5 wheels. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I had a kid that gave me another set a while back and by the time I went to pick them up, he sold them on CL. My fault I guess for procrastinating.
Thanks to all for the answers I’ll be sure to check the ratios Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I've got a 37 truck rear in my aV8 30 coupe. Extended the frame 7 1/2 inches and ran the spring behind. Don't have a picture from behind but width is fine.
