i dont know if im gonna get bashed for this or not..lol.. but at a recent shopping adventure for my son, i stumbled across some "next generation" esque hot rod oriented hotwheels today. and (as one really caught my eye) it made me wonder, are their any hot wheels designers here on the hamb? also, how do some of these radical designs become? kinda made me realize that i am EXTREMELY interested in the whole process of "concept" type designs from hot wheels cars. (i am one of those guys who enjoys learning something new).... anyone got some input on this?
Heres a link of an interview with em http://www.lowrideredge.com/features/0301lre_hot_wheels_design_team/
i ask too, because there is a design (the one that caught my eye), that we been sitting around all night talking about building....maybe toomuch beer, but i think we may give it a shot
http://drawthrough.com/galleries.php?gallery_cat=books&gallery_id=240 I bought this book mostly as a great reminder of the fundamentals of drawing - just my luck it was based on Hot Wheels cars. One of the things I found cool by reading the book is that the 'production approval' models come back from the factory at 400% size. how cool would that be! BTW, if anyone out there is interested, there is a great step by step chapter on how to 'paint' a sketch in Photoshop.
Coop (that has been mentioned before on the HAMB) just designed two really sick kustoms for Hotwheels. I know they were released overseas but I'm not sure if and when they hit the States.
I know a couple of HW designers, their a wacky and eccentric bunch, I work at Jakks Pacific in the Road Champs team, I get to do some of that "out there" stuff sometimes too. Just look at the Fly Wheels toys line. That's my coworked. I work on the MXS, RC Racers, and Custom Garage toys. I know there are a few vendors on here that are or have designer for hot wheels. In fact I think there are also managers from the Hot Wheels dept here also.
