Was wondering if there was any magical potion to keep polished nickel plating from rusting? I know they clear coat it sometimes but that yellows after awhile. Any help would be very helpful....
    Thanks

    Hey,

A bizillion years ago the fittings on cars were all nickle plated. As by nature,
nickle would tarnish and some bright spark said what if we over plate with
chrome? And so it was chrome over nickle ever since, or atleast until plastic
    came to town.

    Polish and wax it.

The clearcoat we put over nickel is chrome.
Rust is probably the sublayer migrating from under the nickel as long as there is no steel or iron fasteners on or around it.
If rust is yellow to light brown it should be removed as quickly as possible with a good quality pH. neutral polish.
If it is dark brown to black, nickel is probably damaged and in need of replating.
