To be honest, I thought it was a cooler car as the Morrari. It was a Hot Rod, adapted for the job it had to do. And now, that part of its history is erased... Same happened with the Pat Hoare Ferrari. Even Enzo said that that was the fastest road driven Ferrari in the world at that time ( when the GTO was new ) And now that is also brought back to the single seater it started out as. I really hope they saved the Hot Rod parts off those two cars, so those versions can be re-created as well...
By 1967, would Coppins have already replaced the original 283 V8 with a 327? I ask because I own the car that the 283 came out of and I'm trying to create a time line for when the motor went into a boat. Thanks.

We had a cool one down here - never really got into it big-time. It was a late 50's Jag ch***is, a MK1 Zephyr body shortened into a two-door with '48 Ford rear fenders grafte on and leaded into it. Powered by a LincolnY-block type motor from the Deep Cove power scheme (a stand-by generator motor) with twin four-barrels. It got street-driven in the late 70's/early 80's then split up. The only item I could track down was the motor, I think Harry Oprwood has it up in Ch-ch.

Interesting thread. I bought the custaxie as a roller from Thompson sometime around 1971/1972. All the goodies had been stripped out of it at that time. It sat under a tree in my mums front yard in Manurewa for a long time. I eventually sold it so I could head over here to the USA in 73. Damned if I can remember who I sold it to.

I know this is a very old thread, but I have only just stumbled on it recently.. Anyway, here is a shot I took of Rod Coppins in his 38, V8 Chev coupe.. He had just finished the V8 conversion and was giving it a workout in the Gisborne Car Club's hill climb.. Held on "Holden's Hill" sometime in the late 60s early70s..
