Always liked seeing pictures of the service department from the day. I know most of those pictures were staged, but the mechanics always look like dignified professionals in neat and organized shops.

  5. Phil, I had the privilege of meeting Carrol and seeing his prison bus in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee several years ago, I was drawn to the bus because it is a Deuce and the Goose Creek Penitentiary emblazoned on the side, at first I was under the impression the bus was from the lower part of South Carolina (Goose Creek) but quickly learned the owner & bus were from Texas.

Carrol was a extremely accommodating guy and invited me to go in and look the bus over, I love it and he did a excellent job. HRP

If you could get a tour of the whole inside of the building and how he has converted everything it is amazing.

Mark, this photo is the first one I thought of when I saw the thread title, hoped it was included.
May seem insignificant to most but it's not the cars that I focus on when I see this shot but the overall vibe of the setting and those chairs, I know, the chairs he says!
If I was one to have a man cave those chairs would be front and center, they are timeless.

Don Lee Cadillac, corner of Green and El Molino, Pasadena, CA, 1927. Later it became Jack Symes Cadillac, and now it is a flower shop. I pumped gas and lubed cars right across the street at a Union 76 station.

Service Department, Jack Symes Cadillac, 1949. The mechanic (not "service representative!") rode this 3-wheeler to the owner's home, hooked the trike to the back bumper, and drove the Caddie to the service department.

Orrin Fox used cars (not "pre-owned vehicles!"), 2345 East Colorado, Pasadena, CA, 1935. Orrin Fox sold Pontiacs from another dealership for many years.

Pelton Oldmobile-Marmon dealership, 254 West Colorado, Pasadena, 1927. Later it became Wegge-Pelton, I think they sold MoPars.

  14. Bill Patterson Motors, Ringwood, Victoria, Australia. Every year a new model Holden came out  and every year the showroom curtains were closed for a week. In one corner was allways his racing car ( he won the 1957 Australian F1- GP ) and in another corner was allways his genuine 1901 curved dash Oldsmobile. I remember as a kid allways trying to peek through the curtains. Then in 1964 dad bought a new Holden there so after that we allways got a official pre-release invitation :D.

1958 FC Holden. Still years behind USA in respect of standard equipment. A very basic car.
My Dad who bought a new car every three years os so went from 1955 Vauxhall Velox(also a GM car)
to a 1958 FC Holden Station Wagon. Then later a 1963 EJ wagon and then a 1966 HR wagon.
