Let me know when you're gonna be chopping Phil's, I'll be there. I should have PM'd you last week, I was in London on training with nothing to do at night but watch the boobtube in the hotel.

  5. Popsicles?! And you call yourselves Canadians?! There better be beer lurking somewhere nearby. :D

Lookin' good boys. Looks like it was a good day.

I better get my ass (mouse) over to canadianrodder.com to say hello, it's been way too long. Doesn't look like anyone's gotten any better looking in my absence. :)

  13. Wow, bgbdlinc and Fatchuck back on the HAMB. I'm feeling all nostalgic :D

My shoebox hasn't been touched in 2 years, still sleeping in a barn in St. David's. I'm trying to figure out how to get it down here.

In the meantime, I bought the HAMB Bomb Econoline pickup, which is sitting in Austin TX.

I seem to have a problem with being about 1,000 miles away from either project.

  14. I am dropping the rusty fleetline body onto an S10 chassis this weekend. Keeping the complete s10 driveline for right now since I am pressed for time! I am trying to get her done in time for Mokan!

I have a shop up in Alliston, about halfway to barrie just off the 400. Thats where the car is. The shop is nicely equipped, and I am lucky to have it. Mig, plasma cutter, torches, couple of hoists, sheetmetal brake and shear, etc...

The S10 is cut down to just a firewall and floorpan (which I plan on reusing) and the 49' I just loosely sitting on its original (and rotted) frame. The 49 has no interior in it pretty much, and the front clip is off. Most of the body mounts are already rotted right off it and I am going to take the plasma cutter and cut most of the floor out so the 49 body can be channelled on the S10 frame.

I am going to throw a BBQ and bring some "refreshments" and see if I can scare up some cool people to give me a hand. The entire thing will be filmed for the documentary I am making called "The Road to Mokan"....

bgbdlinc - I live at the Danfroth and Vic Park basically.

  18. lol - I will be doing this EVERY weekend until Mokan!

Alliston is only 20 minutes from barrie - come and join in the fun!

Any weekend would make any helper rule in my book. I am so far behind and I really want to go to Mokan in the fleetline.

This is great documentation of a great day, thanks Frank. It should be kept on record for others as a rough guide for mid-Forties Ford/Lincoln (maybe other) chops.....all that work was done in in eight amazing hours.....congrats, boys.....
    ..ever grateful...bgbdlinc

    Looks great.

There is a scary moment there when the roof is off and the rear window is still standing up, but when the rear was layed down and roof set back on, it magically just looks right. I'm sure there was a lot of hard work in between those steps, but the result is spot on.

Regarding that finished car -- the rear end of yours looks much better because the finished car has a lumpy and heavy rear roll pan. Don't make that mistake.

...without a doubt...it is a fabulous shot of two guys operating on the same wavelength all day long as if they were brothers....in a way, they were 'brothers-in-arms' for the day as many of us were....sounds sappy but it's true....thanks for that Fast Elvis....

Haring -you are right about the elevated rear roof...I just couldn't believe that the stock roof was so high before we went to work.....some of the pre-chop thinking (very important) anticipated that the rear window would have to be cut loose and lowered toward the trunk....as you say it the roof curve and window location 'magically' fell into place due to the 'lobster-tail' (my term) cuts done by the band of brothers.....I'm still in awe.....
