I have a 36 ford with a 48 merc flathead and a t5 transmission it has the original pedal setup with a shaft coming out of the bell housing , the problem is that the clutch grabs hard no matter how I adjust it , has anyone done a hyd throw out bearing on a setup like this or maybe there's another fix I'm missing

I had the same setup and used Speedway's clutch disc- worked smoothly.

Did you have the same problem before you changed the disc and did you replace the pressure plate also?

No I didn't. I first had the 39 trans which I pulled and went with the T5 set up(Speedway adapter).I was told that using the new type of disc(non asbestos) that there might be chatter but it did not.I used the orig flywheel and pressure plate also and of course I had to change the pilot bearing. My pedal ***y was a '39.Rear end was a 9" ,1959 Ford wagon w/3.75 gears.CE spring kit. Here is a pic of the car.
