So, all these years later what did you do? If it was posted I missed it and I'm too lazy to dig. Besides, isnt early spring "zombie thread" season? :)

I like it all. No paint, rust, satin black, patina, faux patina, all of it. As long as you’re driving it and enjoying it, it’s cool.

It looks good in that green. To me the "patina" thing is way over rated because too many call roached out with total surface rust as "great patina" .

On the other hand I'd rather see a guy or gal put their early build efforts in a good solid and safe ch***is, good running drive train and drive it while deciding if they want to move to the next step that some times coming lately after way too many "cool rat rod" comments from the unwashed or being awarded a "best Rat Rod" award for a car that you in no way consider to be a rat rod at an event. A friend of mine got a best rat rod award for his very well built hot rod With Worn out paint and a decent but tired interor a while back and had his nose out of joint because they called it a rat rod. The guy who really had his undies in a knot was the guy with the full meal deal rat rod with rail road spikes welded to the axle and a whip saw for a visor though.

    Hello,

Almost every time my wife and I drive by this old Ford Truck, it saddens both of us. She hates rust and rusty materials, must have been the constant commands from her mean old dad “… watch out for rusty nails or cans,” when they used to go to the Salton Sea during those “safe” days back in 1958-60 timeline.

But, from a nice patina on an old truck to total rust with the salt air hitting it daily and nightly, it is just going downhill fast. No more slight patina. It is not rusty and not getting any better. What else can anyone expect with the truck sitting outside day in and out, with coastal, salt air, fog and mist as a standard thing. Then sunny days baking on whatever and finally, the nightly salt air moisture doing double time on the exposed surface.

Compare the top photo to these last two photos and now it becomes apparent of the damage done to such a nice truck.

The look of a hot rod truck that was finished in red, may not be in the cards for the owner. But, at least one old truck has been saved and is being used daily as it should be for a cool truck. This Red Ford Truck would fit inside of our tiny two car garage. As nice as it is, the red truck would be used almost daily for our errands + visits to local stores and shops. YRMV
