Just saw an older post on SBC short pump, left side head mount bracket that Hollywwod-East used. I have the same bracket but find that tall valve covers make it hard to fit a belt. Looks like a low profile valve cover in his picture. How tall is the cover? I did a mock up with stock valve covers and had no problem. Also I have inquired about using a mini-alternator with this bracket but no replies, about this application have come back.

Not sure what you are asking. Photo of bracket installed might help.
Sounds like you already know it will not work with talk valve covers but will work with standard/short covers.
    How can we help?

Can you provide a link to the thread where you saw the photo, or at least give us the ***le. I did multiple searches for posts by Hollywood-East and came up empty.

"hard to fit a belt"...is it because the Alt will not clear, or just need a longer belt?

The bracket I used was for the short water pump. My car has a long water pump and with a spacer I made, fit great... sorry, this is the best pic I have. 20200911_141437.jpg

I had pretty much that same bracket on my T bucket in the mid 70's. 283 with a short pump.
If I remember right getting the right belt was a serous challenge. I think I finally took an old longer belt, cut it and then pulled it around the pulleys to get the length as close as I could and took that to the parts house. JohnandTbucket001.jpg

Jitney Jake when at Walden's (note edit), he offered some of the nicest brackets I've ever seen. Now he's no longer there and ensconced in his digs in Apple Valley, maybe he has them for sale again. With all the folks on here who know somebody who knows somebody, maybe he could respond as to whether those beautiful and very sturdy goods could be had again. And, yes, I am talking about the 'welding' partner of the once storied Pete and Jake's of Temple City. Anyone out there know about this?

Errata acknowledged. I will change it. My point was to aim the reader toward a solution. Do you know if Jake is still making those brackets?

I have used a C3 alt bracket, short pump, with tall finned aluminum valve covers and it worked well. Works with headers as well. they also came on some C10 trucks.

This is the bracket that will not work with tall covers. The picture may be an aftermarket piece with longer legs that might clear tall covers, but I have a factory piece and the legs are shorter. A longer belt puts the alternator over center and cannot be adjusted. Also I can't seem to find out if a mini-alternator would work without buying one and taking a chance, Not my style to guess if it would work. I cannot use the ramhorn exhaust bracket since my Corvette ramhorns lack the bolt holes found on p***enger cars. Thanks for all the replies, at this point I may redo the whole set-up and go back to my first configuration with a long water pump, Hurst saddle front motor mount and an electric fuel pump, which I wanted to get rid of after 35 plus years of a noisey Holley. I may have to buy the aftermarket piece, after I just bought the factory piece that doesn't fit. Live and learn.

^^^^^ Pivot point is too close to cover as compared to other brackets that work off of exhaust manifolds and or headers.

I used an Alan Grove alternator bracket on my car. Very high quality and sturdy.

I too would recommend the Alan Grove products.

We did Bill's Brackets on my 40 coupe. I have also used Alan Grove brackets also. Both good.
