Syracuse this past weekend was a blast! had tons of fun, and meeting Hambers Hotrodladycruzer, Thechick, Terrarodder and others was great. Shitty weather sat. morning made us have an emergency stop in Watertown (no wipers) but other than that and the fact that it was hotter than hell all weekend, it was a great event. Syracuse cops are dickheads, we had a few run ins for stupidity, like sitting on the grass in lawnchairs at the corner of 7th North and Electronics at night to watch the cruzing and street action was a big 'no no' to them. One of my friends started mouthing off because we weren't doing anything wrong and we thought he was going to get a billy bat to the side of the head for sure. The cops even had a friggin helicopter patroling to stop any 'criminals' who where breaking the law with 'unsafe starts'. The hotel manager was pissed like you wouldn't believe. He started yelling that these people (us car guys n gals) are just here to have a good time and that if the cops don't leave us alone we won't come back which will hurt business. It was pretty funny and crazy at the same time. It was hilarious watching Thechick almost kick a guys ass for lighting up his chevelle infront of a huge crowd Don't fuck around with her!! She's a tough one! ha ha The giveaway truck the Chopshop Customs did was absolutely amazing. The fit and finish, paint, stance, everything made even Foose's Camaro look poor quality. What a job they did. I also got to meet the guys who run Stillwater Garage in NJ. They've been featured in a few mags, their cars are amazing. Super cool guys, they even invited us to tour their shop, and it was open to us anytime. What great people. Heres a link to my folder of pics: http://s65.photobucket.com/albums/h237/lowdown63/syracuse 2006/
It was good to see fellow HAMBers. I'm the short pudgy bastard in the brown shirt. Didn't really say hello to too many people....just kinda stood there and took it in so sorry I didn't say wats up graverobber. Hopefully there will be more HAMBers there next year and we can make this an annual meet. Greg
Cool pics! I think i took 4 or 5..thats about it. I couldn't get into it with all the heat.. Sorry i did't say 'what up' too.. got a phone call from home shortly after we all met up and it wasn't a good one so i wasn't really with it after that, thats why i had walked away for a short time. Next year though... Tony
well guess i missed yall i was there a lil early but dad needed to sit down hes got a double hernia and goes for surgery next week so ill catch up with all you crazies next year at least i got the 54 there though met tony and uncle jessie
LOL- you know - I can kick ANYONES ass.... a time and a place for the fun my friend. Hadda do the RIGHT thing..people were just too damn close for that kind of stuff leaving the grounds...some litle kid would have become a real live cry baby doll.... Almost ended up with a lynch mob though- glad Tucci Sr came by with the Boss Hogg car and took me outa there! and thanks for the comments about the truck. Im sure Lenny will REALLY appreciate it- he was feeling kinda down about it . Charlie Decker from One Armed Bandit Pinstriping did some amazing shit on the truck too- loved the traditional work on a newer -ish paint style.Charlie is too cool man. It was sooo cool to meet everyone too. Maybe we can plan to have our little reunion there for the East Coast HAMBErgers every year? Denise- I am soo glad we finally met too- where are the HAMB chicklette pics we took? hmmmm???? More picsunder the hood of the truck)
Tony finally saw your car in the winner's picks parking lot... man pics of that thing don't do it any justice! WOW its gorgeous.
Looking at your pictures it looked like the whole scene changed on Sat. We were there on Fri but had to leave early, the heat was getting to the wife so had to cut it short. We both missed not having a car there to hang out with, the last 2 years I had the 55 gasser there, next year hopefully we will be there with the 34 and meet and greet wid ya all. Anyone notice the vendor #'s were down and fri attendance a little thin?
I was GREAT meeting everyone, both new pals and olds ones too! Some of you guys are like school boys at a dance when it comes to talking to other HAMB guys at the meet and greets. No one is gonna bite ya. If you want to meet someone YOU have to walk up to them, stick out your hand and introduce yourself. I know it's scary to do but it gets easier each time. Pretty soon it becomes second nature. Anyway, I guess I'm the lucky one cuz I met, hugged, chatted and got my picture took with everyone there. No regrets from me not meeting someone who was standing 5 feet away. Dana, I'm not sure whats going on with my camera again but I couldn't download my photos from the weekend. Might have something to do with I dropped it on Saturday at the show. I'm going to see if I can throw my memory stick in a pals camera and see if I can get the photos out. If so, you know I'll post those. It was wonderful to finally meet you in person and I'd really like to thank you again for the room. Perfect location, AWESOME PRICE, great employees working there. We couldn't have asked for more. Tony, CONGRATS! on the pick. Your ride looked AWESOME! I LOVE the color! I'm so glad you were recognized for all your hard work. To be picked as a top 12 at a HUGE show like that is a quite an accomplishment and I couldn't be happier for you. Orange Crush, Thank you so much for the license plate! It's very mcuh appreciated. It was great to finally meet you and your lovely wife in person. Also, CONGRATS! on your car's pick as well. I'm very impressed, two HAMB cars out of about 6,000 cars where choosen for top awards! Way to go guys! Tagman, it was great to see you again. I beleive the story of your friend's car breaking down was just an excuse so you didn't have to come to the meet and greet and inform eveyone that YOU actually were the one that ate ALL 6 dozen cookies that Mrs Tagman slaved away and baked for US. I had quite a bit of luck at this show. I met one guy with a '48 Chevy convert that shaved his stainless beltline trim and was willing to sell it to me if he could find the pieces in his rafters. Keep your fingers crossed kiddos. Also, on the way home we stopped in Niagra Falls at the gentleman who built my '47 Chevy convert place. Low and behold he has a parts car '48 Chevy convert in his barn and is willing to part with the stainless beltline trim if it's still ont he car. He said he will dig it out and let me know. Very exciting parts location weekend for me! I also picked up 2 license plates in the swap meet. One from Germany and one from France and got a smoken deal. Swap meet vendors LOVE female car stuff purchasers. Besides the HOT, sweaty trip home, it was a most AWESOME weekend and I will post my photos if I ever get them out of my camera.
That was a great weekend. I finally got to meet Hotrodladycrusr and see her car. She is doing a great job on it. No cookies thou. Oh-well. Tony's ride looked great. I'm glad he got picked. I didn't realize anyone else from the HAMB got picked. Meeting CHOPSHOP and THE CHICK was sure a great way to start off the weekend. They are a couple of down-to-earth people. I noticed that nomater who you were, if you wanted to talk, they would stand right there and talk to you. He did a fantastic job on the giveaway truck. The time line they gave him wasn't very long. Hanging around Tucci's, I was able to follow the truck in the building process. The weekend turned out great for driving a roadster. As for the attendance and vendor numbers, it did look like they were down alittle. I haven't heard any numbers thou.
Denise and HR30..thanks a lot!! When they had us drive the cars around in front of the stage to present the award, they stated who you were and a little about the car for everyone.. I was the last to go through, and the last thing the fella mentioned for me was that i was a member of the HAMB and then followed that with a few nice thing's to say about this place like there's a wealth of knowledge on here.. Someone must have seen the HAMB shift pattern sticker on my drivers vent window when they were getting the info.. I thought that was pretty damn cool.. Tony
Thanks for the good words. It nice to know that people attending the event liked our work - which was my shop's goal. We actually had a full year to create the truck, but it didnt reach my shop until this spring. The woman who won the truck seemed so happy on what she got. I think she cried. It was great to meet you all as well. If you are ever around Boston, please stop on by. If you see Tucci Sr, let him know I am searching for the Limoncello and homemade Amaretto recipes this week!
I was late for the meet & didn't get to meet anyone new as they were breaking up by the time I got there. The "Event Staff" were standing in front of the old ladys car and wouldn't let me move it. Hopped the trolly to the meet, but didn't get off as I didn't see anyone there until it was too late. Went back to my campsite & grabbed my kids truck. Got there just as everyone was leaving. I didn't know Rich's A got picked for the dirty dozen. Looks like Tony has to share the Rockstar spotlight! hehe They couldn't have picked two better rides, or two better people!
Tony, Your car looks better each time I see it. The workmanship, paint & designing are all top shelf, IMHO. You deserved the spotlight, rockstar - congratulations !
THe show had about 5800-6000 cars. A bit down but not as bad as some of the larger events out there have been heard (as Ive heard) With gas being at least $3 gallon in our area- Cant imagine peole will travel 500 miles to a show anymore this year....
Oh my God, I didn't realize I was suppose to stay home this summer. $3.25 on average this past weekend during our cruz to Indiana for 35Pickup's pig roast.
Denise, did you get your pics downloaded yet?? It was so damn hot i didn't take more than a couple pics and didn't walk around much at all....i know there was a ton of stuff i missed.. Tony
My home computer is at the doctors being fixed. Hopefully I'll get it back tonite and if everythings working properly will be back up to cruzn speed at home and will be able to post ALL my summer show photos.......you know, all those shows that I shouldn't have attended.
