I have read as many threads as I could find but there’s still a few things I’m wondering about. When using the quarter elliptical springs as the lower “bars” in a 4 link, what is the ideal mounting point from centerline of the axle? Same for the top bars?
I know there must be a balance for acceleration and braking force with the layout but can’t find any solid information.
Thanks for any info on doing a setup like this.

When I built my first quarter elliptical suspension is was under a deuce roadster but I did it the other way and used the springs on the top and a 4 bar type bar on the bottom. I put the spring mount basically on top of the axle and slightly forward and the bottom bars on a bracket about 3 inches below the axle going forward under the frame like the 4 bars are today. Also used a panard bar. This was in 1983 and I still see the roadster every few years at the LARS with well over 150K on it with the same suspension. If I were to do it over again I would put the spring on the bottom and triangulate the upper bars to eliminate a panard bar. Could really get the car low with this setup. On the quarter elliptic's I do today I use the Posie rear springs with shackles and P&J ladder bars. I have done several ch***is for customers like this and they work very good.

    Thanks for the info @krylon32
I had inquired with a member about his triangulated setup with QE springs and he is seeing some bind that’s giving some issues. I bought a pair of Johnny joints for the axle side of the bars to help free up some movement, with regular bushings for the frame side. Not sure if I should do parallel or triangulated at this point.

I am building a T speedster with dual quarter elliptical spring sets one upper and one lower, any advice or pics would be useful.

I would put the Johnny joints at the front of the triangulated bars, no bind and more flex in suspension.
