Ok I just bought this, I hate the wheels and air cleaner, but the rest of the car is real clean. any suggestions on wheels and tires? Its painted to look like a woody, so I'm thinking old surf rod look? Carlg
My style on it would be steel wheels painted black 8 wides and 6s, chrome lugnutz. But being a kind of a '60s themed car chrome reverse would also fit real well again 7s or 8s and 5 or 6s. No caps on either surfers had no cash. Oh I ment os say I like it friend. Glossy paint and all. its a good lookin' car from where i sit.
Maybe some smoothies and caps and rings . narrower tires would give it more the oldie surfer look. Dave
Oh yeah, that steering wheel has to go too and 16" steelies (of some color ??) no caps and maybe WWW ... okay... someone do a photochop for this guy. Any pics of the interior that will probably need gutting also?? Was the price right?
Cool! Are you willing to cut this thing or just give it an accessorie make-over? (wow that sounded gay!)
looks good congrats cant really see the air filter but the wheels are a lil off what ya think you might wanna try
Black steel wheels would look cool. But I have to say it would be super easy for me to scuff and shoot over that paint.
I kinda like the paint job. I think some spindly looking artillery wheels, with some faux woodgraining on them, to carry out the theme, and a re-detailing on the motor, this would be really cool. Almost 70's looking,
That's alright! I have a friend with a Falcon 'Tiki Surf' wagon he wants me to paint him up some faux wood grain, I think it's gonna be just the opposite of yours though, darker panels and lighter trim.
Yeah, I know what you mean about the color. When I first tried to buy the car, about 8 yrs ago it was all black. I am kind of tempted to paint it black again, but I think I'll see what I can do with the woodie look first,I can always change the color later. Thanks Carlg
for a new steering wheel , cup up some like 1/2 inch bamboo , stain it t be the same color as the side , and then cut it to be a square. easy and would look kinda cool , going along with the surf theme , you could put a tiki or something in the middle of it. -dylan
i'd be down for solid black paint scheme, glossy black steel wheels in the back, with narrow whitewall cheater slicks and chrome lug nuts, no spiders or rings, but maybe some cal custom 'flat' axle covers. for the front, i'd run some 4'' cragars (still available new) with blackwalls... the engine compartment needs some drag-style inspiration, like one of those velocity stacks with a screen over it, and some more sinister looking headers...(and you need to lose the electric fan)
This is what the air cleaner looks like, I guess some people just don't under stand that "just because it fit dosen't mean its right!"
I saw that car at Buccis!! is it the old "elvira" car? What was the story on all those cars down there? I heard that the guy who owned the "Monster" T & the he**** is in some serious ****!! JimV
Yes it is the old elvira car, And although I can't go into any details he is in some serious ****! let BUT I CAN MAKE ONE THING VERY CLEAR BUCCI'S AUTO BODY IS NOT INVOLVED. Thanks Carlg
kinda, my thought too.the wood isn't working for me,but it isn't my car. if it was mine i would get out and drive the wheels off.then find some more, and drive them off too. it's all about the fun of cars, anyway.congrats on your new ride. -danny
That lower paint looks like a dark maroon color with a black top. How about continuing that over the faux wood, get rid of the finned valve covers for some stock steel ones powder coated a light metalic color close to aluminum. Replace that air cleaner with an Olds/Caddy batwing air cleaner painted the same dark maroon and put on a mechanical fan like someone already said. Finally pin stripe in a light metallic color matching the valve covers and call it "Deep Purple". Not sure about the wheel treatment.
