The cowls are different where the hood rests and the fenders attach. You can do modifications, but it's not a bolt-on.

Can you find some cowl sides off a 38? That would be the easiest way.

It’s only metal. .... And this is the custom forum. Get your bits and pieces together and bolt it up .... till you discover what needs modification. I too love the 38 front.

Build what you have or sell and buy the body you want.. I'd build the 38 standard sedan, myself... NO^^.. Sedans are completely different bodies....

  13. You're forgetting one big thing the 38 Radiator is narrow and tall, the 40 is low and wide so you'll have to use a 38 radiator too., the 38 grill and side panels bolt to the radiator. It's doable with "Prior proper pre-planning". Times sure change , in the 50's everybody put 40 De Lux frontends on 36 thru 39 to make them 40's., it was a joke to have a 37, 38, 39 Std. , cause we all wanted a 40.

How about starting with a ‘38 coupe? Way easier than any of the options you’re looking at.

I put a 38/39 front on a 37 sedan. I had to modify the lower cowl where the fenders fit.

The 38 std coupe is more similar to a 37 coupe than 40 coupe unless you use a complete 40 coupe and rework the cowl.

I just spotted a '38 Standard coupe for sale in the cl***ified ads here. Check it out. Beats reinventing the wheel.
