Hot Rods Trucks - thinking outside the box

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Sep 24, 2020.

  1. I have saved a few images of trucks from the past few years that have made a impression on me, not necessarily stock configuration but where the owner opted to use passenger car sheet metal on the front.

Most of what I have seen has been well built, I would think what has been done with Fords has also been done with other makes like Chevrolet, Dodge, etc.

Lets have a dedicated thread to the unique & unusual trucks. HRP

I believe this one is owned by a Hamber. HRP

Saw this truck a few times at local shows 2 summers ago but have not seen it last summer nor this year. I guess I really haven’t seen much this summer. Beautifully done.

  13. 39-40 chev pickups don't need passenger car front sheetmetal.....they look like they already have it!

Sounds like you're mostly looking for pickups with passenger car front sheet metal.
Hope this is okay to post, Danny.
I've often considered the idea of building a 5 window extended cab pickup truck from an early, relatively inexpensive 4-door sedan.
Here's a pretty fancy one. Converted from a 1940 Packard flower car!
Model A is closer to what I had in mind though.

I would rather think inside the box, after I get it painted. IMG_5500.JPG

  23. That Ford pickup with the 47-48 passenger car front end looks cool. But then, just about anything would look better than that jail bar front sheet metal.

  25. Don, the jail bar trucks are not the best looking Ford pickup, in fact they are down right homely, but to be honest I wouldn't turn one down if it was priced right, I kinda like them.:D HRP
