Up for sale is a very nice mostly original 1956 Ford Thunderbird. This Tbird has a lot to offer if you are looking for a original low mileage better than driver quality car. My wife and I have owned this car for 1 year now, the Tbird was purchased as my wife’s personal classic car. A little history on the Tbird and us a classic car owner so you know who and what you are dealing with. My wife and I commissioned a build of a 32 Ford 3window coupe which was a little too much car for her since the 32 had a built LT1 with 500HP at the wheel and it was her first hot rod ever. My wife before the completion of the 32 was a passenger in our other classic car, a 1939 Pontiac. Long story short, she wanted a car of her own so we had the 32 built, later she decided she would rather have a car that was mor classic that hot rod, and something convertible. We sold the 32 and I purchased the Tbird from a gentleman in NC. I consider myself lucky to have found the Tbird in the first place since this Tbird is almost all original with 40,000 miles and drives with a car with low miles. The Tbird was purchased by the original owner in 1956, and was in his possession until he passed away, this Tbird was then purchased at a estate sell from the gentleman that I purchased it from, so technically we are the 3rd owners . The Tbird had not been driven much in the original owners last few years which was a double-edged sord sort of speak. Since the Tbird was gently driven in most of the original owner life and hardly driven in his last years the Tbird was aesthetically almost perfect and correct, however a 64 year old classic should not sit around , so I needed to correct a few items so my wife could enjoy her new toy without me having to worry about her when she did. So, this brings us to the nuts and bolts of the Tbird. All equipment listed below is original to the Tbird unless otherwise noted replaced. 1956 Ford Thunderbird with factory safety package (which meant the Tbird was equipped from the factory with seat belts, padded sun visors, padded instrument panel, passenger side mirror, Original 312 V8 motor with 40,000 original miles with original Teapot carb Ford-O-Matic 3 speed transmission 4- way power seat Factory Power steering Magic Air heater AM radio (converted to pick up FM and use a Aux. device for additional music source) Telescopic Steering wheel Power Windows Factory upgraded Thunderbird valve covers Original Kelsey Hayes hubcaps Original removable hardtop with port holes Original trunk liner Original tuxedo interior All original gauges and instruments work including the clock and courtesy light. Replaced original radiator with a factory look aluminum 3 core radiator (still have the original factory radiator that will go with the sale of the car) Original water pump that has been rebuilt Replacement thermostat Rebuild original Teapot carburetor Replaced Factory correct hoses and belts New Factory correct battery New fender skirt gaskets New Door weather stripping Rebuilt entire front and rear brakes Added 2000 CFM electric fan that does have a hidden toggle switch Replaced valve cover gaskets Original exhaust manifold blasted and retreated to keep that fresh look A few other small old and ends, all work performed by reputable mechanics, and work done was more maintenance then work needed to restore. Remember, we drive our cars regularly whether to a car show or diner on a nice evening, the items that we had done to the Tbird were good for the car and my piece of mind. Any parts that we replaced were replaced with quality factory reproductions, as well as we choose to keep the original parts taken of the car. All the original parts will go with the sale of the Tbird. Also, with the sell of the car are all the original documents, brochures, build sheet. The original owner kept all these documents to include the original 1956 dealership ordering sheets, brochures and invoices. These items are history and its quite neat to see them especially with the car they came with. I can let the Thunderbird speak for its self, I think you would be hard pressed to find another at this level of originality, drivability, and appearance for the price I am asking. For the burning question everyone asks, we have chosen to sell the Tbird for one reason only. My wife has not and probably will not be a lifer car gal. I have had many of hot rods, classics, beater etc. in my life and I always will, my wife however has not and only has recently started to enjoy the hobby in the last 9 years. My wife has chosen to expand on other hobbies while deciding to accompany me as a passenger again. I cannot drive 2 cars at the same time, and I will never sell our other classic so for this reason I have chosen to let some other lucky individual enjoy our Tbird. In closing, I welcome anyone to view the thunderbird, if your out of town I would suggest having a local professional inspect the Tbird for you. Jon 470-925-9833
