I need to know what other spindle arms may fit onto a 49/54 chev p*** car spindle . have a 29 nash with 7" dropped axle with leaf springs and need to bend some arms to fit between frame and spring.
Cant you cut a taper half way on the opposite of your arm,and gain enough clearance to run yours by installing the tie rod on the opposite side?
Truck spindles have a dropped arm, will fit where the p***enger car ones will, but have a different king pin angle.
Mid 30's to 59 Chevy 1/2 ton truck arms should have the same bolt hole pattern. I've swapped 54 Car backing plates to Truck spindles several times. There is about a 3-1/2 inch drop from the center of the bolt hole to the bottom of the end of the arm and the arm is about 5 inches from bolt hole to the pin for the tie rod. Changing them over to the regular tie rod ends is fairly simple. I'm not sure exactly what year this pair is as a friend gave them to me for my boat tail project along with the rest of the front end.
I'm going to ***ume total from the spring mounting pads on a parallel leaf axle that already had a factory drop. I've got an ugly mess of a dropped axle out back that may have more than that total.
I need arms to go up from bottom bolt holes because i have disc brakes on there I have bent them up but need more to allow clcarence for caster and really don't want to cut and weld not knowing what material they are made of . then get magnafluxed and x-rayed if I have to f
Ended up taking them to welding shop and had them cut and welded because arm became to short for steering.
