Hey guys, Sandblasted, now grinding off the miles of undercoating, and almost ready for the KBS ch***is coating...but I wonder if I’m screwed. The frame “teeters” from the right rear to the left front and is bit off level when laying in the ground. It’s about 1/2” teeter when it’s on jack stands, and I’m wondering if this is small enough to not worry about or if I need to get this to someone who does frame work... I just don’t want to put a ton more effort and time on a frame that may not sit right when I’m done... thoughts?
i'm certainly no expert but the way i see it the frame is a perimeter frame ans when the body is bolted down on it ,it will pull itself in.....plus if that is the way it was when the body came off, can't see that it would be a problem when the 2 are united.....again just my opinion
As Paul says, the platform you are using needs to be perfectly flat. There could even be uneven tolerances in the jack stands. It shouldn't be too expensive to get it checked. If you have a couple of friends, run a string all directions across the stands and check with a level.
Thanks guys - I appreciate your feedback. Yeah - I think it’s definitely a level issue/jack stand issue...I checked it in a different spot with the same jack stands and it’s teetering, but it’s minute enough that like jailbar said too, once the body mounts it should all square up. I think I just panicked...I’m definitely gonna work on checking square with it but I’m not going to lose sleep over it.
A couple of "I" beams, and a good laser level to check the resting points worked for me when I was modifing a 40 truck frame. Paul.
